Default Confused

Hi Everyone I need someone that might be able to explain whats going on.
I am a 3 1/2 years post op and have notice that medications dont seem to work as good as they use to.
For example....cold medications. If I take pills no effects what so ever. Liquigels minimual effects like three hours after I take them. Liquid cold medication..20 min worth of semi-relief. This is the second severe cold I have had in that last year and I have drank a whole bottle of nyquil with little to no effect.
Has anyone else had this experience with cold/flu meds or others. I have noticed this with pain meds to. Its almost like they dont break down or arent absorbed correctly.

Am I losing it?

Smile No, not loosing it

I've noticed the same thing...
I've started crunching my pills or at least breaking them up so they desolve in my pouch...

Please be careful with taking OTC meds. Nyquil has tylenol in it and taking more than 4 grams of tylenol a day can be toxic to your liver. I'm about 3 years out. I think meds a absorbing slower now but at the normal rate. In the begining, meds seemed to hit me like a ton of bricks. We need to take shorter acting meds for them to me more effective. If we take long acting meds like 12 or 24 hr doses, we don't seem to get the benefit from them. Also, make sure you are taking the "real" psuedophed, the kind you have to sign for, and not just the crap on the shelves. Talk to your bariatric surgeon or PCP. Please don't take more than the recommended doses as that is not the safest thing to do. I had to stop taking my Zyrtec in the begining because I was zonked out. I can actually take it now. I take it at night and I know it doesn't last the full 24 hours but it still helps with spring allergies. Also, letting your surgeon know about the issues we face will help them to learn and provide better care for their patients. Sue
