Default Orthopedic Surgeon tomorrow

Tomorrow is the big day for me to meet with the orthopedic back surgeon. I know him from years ago when we stood on the sidelines of football games. I was a sports medicine tech and was training and learning. He would come along in case big injuries occured. It was cool. He ended up doing spinal fusion for my Mom and now it is my turn. I have another thread somewhere, but just started up this one.

I hope that the protrusion in my spine is fixable and that the stenosis isn't too bad. I am way too young for all of this and really had enough surgery for at least 10 people in their lifetimes.

Wish me luck....I am so full of anxiety.

What a day at the surgeon's office. I have to go back in for another MRI of the pelvis area because he is very concerned. He says I don't have enough weight on me and the fact that I lost so much doesn't help. I said to him...isn't it supposed to be good to lose weight? He said, of course, but in this case, I have other things going on adding to the problem. I also found that I have carpal tunnel syndrome which to me is nothing compared to this back thing. I have a growth in my wrist...what else...a growth in my brain???

So, I wait to get another MRI and go back in a month. He said to put more weight on, but even with more weight, I explained the problem didn't go away, so he said let's see what happens with the next MRI.

I really like him and he spent a lot of time with me. I appreciate quality time and he sure gave it to me. I can't believe he remembered me after 20 years. It was my Blue Eyes....

Default MRI took forever

I laid in the tunnel for an hour when the tech comes to me and says, "the machine broke and we need to start over" I was laying there for an hour and during that time, I was thinking that it didn't sound right. MRI's are loud and make a lot of strange noises, but this one was really wierd. I was so frustrated. They told me that I had to wait for the newer machine and that a patient just went in. After 3 hours, I finally made it out of there. I had to do the contrast and the guy wasn't too nice with the needle. I told him that I wasn't an easy stick...still at my skinny size, they can never find my veins. Anyway, he just jabbed me hard and got it and told me to say "thank you" At this point, I wanted to kick him because my back was killing me from laying flat so long. Boy, did I have a hard time holding still. I looked at the 20+ films that they gave me and I can see the mass on the films where my specialist thinks I have a growth or tumor...something. It is quite noticable and it freaks me out. I am trying not to worry too much. I figure if it is some sort of tumor, the ortho surgeon can get it out. My Mom had a tumor wrapped around her spinal cord and the same surgeon I am seeing carefully and successfully got it out. I have faith and hope for the best.

I have been away from the foruma and miss all the new features. How do you do the friends thing where you ask to add freinds?

Wow Dale - nothing is goes easily for you when it comes to your health. I can't believe the tech who stuck you was such a jerk. I, too, have trouble with getting stuck in the veins - they can find mine but they roll and know that it isn't fun at all.

I hope you can find some relief and at the very least a few months of no issues with your health.
