Umm..I answered 5+ years, because between me being born and 5 years old, i was "normal", but I recall feeling heavier than my peers right around age 5 - pictures of me back then prove that I was normal, but I always felt fatter than everyone else...

One reason I started this poll, and the other two, was to see if there might be a correlation between switch addiction post WLS and never having been in the "normal/average" BMI range. I was wondering if people who had lived their lives in a normal (adult) state with a standard or average BMI had as many problems with switch addiction post WLS as those who had never known what it is to live daily with a Normal BMI/weight/lifestyle.
I'm not even sure I am making sense...It's been a long day and I've spent the last few hours cataloging various E-Coli specimen....so don't mind me if my explanation is off in the Back 40 somewhere!!

I voted normal for less than a year and it was due to extreme starvation, phen/ phen and anorexia....awful things that I did to my body. Otherwise, I was always obese. It runs in the family and I belonged to the clean plate family. We HAD to clean our plate and eat at 8:00 am, Noon, and 5:00 no matter what everyday, have snacks all day long and eat dessert every night which was usually cake or a big bowl of ice cream with toppings, or cookies, See's Candy, etc.
I blame part of my obesity on the way I was raised. I don't force my kids to eat if they aren't hungry and so far all of them are good with their BMI's.
