Default Should I go to the ER

I have been sick with the stomach flu for 2 days and I am totally dehydrated. I want to go to the ER, but every time I go they treat me like a junkie because of the meds I am on. I am in extreme back pain and they think I am there just to get a fix. I need some re-hydration and pain control. What should I do? Or say? I feel as if I stay like this, my body is going to start failing on me. I feel terrible.

If it were me, I would go. Don't let anyone make you feel guilty for seeking medical attention!!! Given your health history....you need to take care of yourself. Asking for hydration isn't drug seeking!!!!!! Please go to the ER and get help. You can't keep on like you are....you will end up being admitted with major problems if you let this go on!

I don't understand how they can't be in touch with your primary care physician or your records to see the history... You shouldn't have to worry about being treated as a junkie! That's so wrong on so many levels!!!

HUGGGGGGING HEALTH to you!

You need fluids! What they think is irrelevant. The drug issue is totally another issue, your doctor should help you with that. You really need to see what's causing your pain and how to fix the problem.
Hope you feel better soon.

Dale, sweetie...get yourself into the ER. You need hydration. You need to think of yourself and your health and try to shove your worries about "what do they really think of me?" You need help, Dale and they HAVE to treat you. Plain and simple so get your sick little sore backside into that ER, do you hear?

Default You are all right

It is not a good thing when I go to the ER and after telling my history over and over, I get looks of disbelief. It really makes me feel bad. Dr C was very upset with the last ER visit at the same hospital where he resides. I put in 2 written formal complaints. The ER doc disregarded everything I said, told me he wouldn't call DR C even though I insisted it and it was just a terrible visit. I like the hospital and feel safe there, but the staff just baffles me. They give me a hard time because I have been there so many times???I just don't know why.

Anyway, good old broth did the trick and the new Gatorade that they came out with..G2 Gatorade with low sugar. I am good for now. I am keeping it down and hoping for total re-hydration...I just keep sipping. I found after gbs that we do get dehydrated much faster and it is so hard to recover.

Thanks for all the advice and support. I surely won't worry the next time I think I need to go. I will just go and be assertive.
