Hi MissScarlet
You succeeded before and you can succeed again. Don't think of the whole 80lbs - its far too overwhelming for anyone! Just conquer 1 itty bitty pound at a time. One will turn into two and then into three etc. Set yourself a goal - lose 1lb in the first week - easy peasy lemon squeezy for ya babe! It'll be the start of your journey. You'll soon get back on track hun. ![]() Oh yeah and get rid of those M&M's - they are truly public enemy number 1! Bad M&M's, Bad M&M's! ![]() Good luck love and keep us posted. ![]()

I really need to check on that protien requirement. I know when I first had the surgery I needed 60 grams of protien but I'm not sure if that much is still needed at 7 years out like me and I already meet my goal and now gained weight. I guess I need to find that "pouch" diet. Of course candy is not something I need either. I really appreciate all the responses, it is making me feel better. I have felt so bad lately, like there is no hope. Now I'm beginning to feel hopeful again.

What you gonna do about it? The answer is, you've already started - you're gonna fix it. Get the help you need - find the support you need. Imagine an 80 pound kid trying to boss you around - I don't think so. You da boss woman - take it by the horns. Wrestly that m-n-m demon into the ground. Do whatever it takes - you have every power you need to defeat this. A heart, a head and us to support you. You go!!

Dear. Miss Scarlett,
I soo relate to your obsession & compulsion with a certain food item. I am six years postop and struggle also. Each day I swear I won't buy the item then get in the car and get it anyway, day after day for the past four years. I'm about 40 lbs. heavier than my lowest weight of 155 lbs that I had maintained for the first couple of years postop. I understand your pain (I also feel it), and know in my heart that we don't have to stay in this pain. My first step to change is signing back on to thinnertimes.....a baby step to change. Together we can do what we can not seem to do alone. Let's support each other. Suzanne

but have you considered not buying the m&m's?
I have the opposite problem... I need to gain weight and I dump on everything. So I found myself eating everything. I figured if I dump on chicken I might as well dump on a slice of bread with butter right? Chocolates not my passion... bread, butter ummmm Anyway... I stopped it becasue it was getting out of hand so I stoppped buying bread. I've actually gottent oteh checkout counter looked down and had bread in my basket and thought "when the heck did I pick that up" our brains are amazing... Anyway I just ask the clerk to put it back for me. It takes more than just your tool...you need to practice will power. Yucky word. Also someone already said more protein... definately! Try purchasing healthy snack...already cut up apples and veggies with a dip or something...keep that ready to go in the frig. Habits are hard to break and easy access food is a habit.. open drawer insert hand and ta-da comfort food! SO now it's open drawer insert hand and ta-da veggies... okay not as tasty but much better for you! good luck

I too am 7 years out and though I haven't gained back a lot, I have gained and have been unable to get below 185. Through this website I found a link Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test I think you should try it. Yes, you should probably cut back on the M&Ms, but it sounds like you're not eating enough period. Do yourself a favor and try this pouch test. I am almost through day 2 and feel fantastic!!! I've even started losing weight again after many, many years!!! Good luck... you can do it.

I know you feel you HAVE to have the M&M's..I can relate...I'm only 6 months out and have recently been adding bad things into my diet...I just committed to Gina From NY's last 20 lbs thread in the "Exercise" section...(eventhough I have more than 20 lbs to go)...and am going to elimnate the crap.
One suggestion I can offer you is to try the "Pure Protein" Chocolate Deluxe bars...you can buy them at the supermarket or I find them at WalMart...each one has 20g of protien. Every time you need some M&M's take a bite of the bar...its very chocolatey and yummy. By the end of the day you will have finished a bar...and fed your chocolate habit...and ingested 20g of protein. They're also very filling and honestly they taste sooooo good! Truly...just do this. You owe it to yourself to eliminate that junk...turn it around...you can do it.

Hello, all!
I'm really scaring myself. The last two days I was able to eat an entire meal. I mean I ate an entire plate of Chinese food today -- and last night I ate a plate of Indian food. I felt too full only at the very end. It scares me that I can eat like that. Normally, I couldn't eat that much. I have gained 5 lbs. I'm having a tummy tuck in 2 wks and I'm so scared of my own mentality. I just read about the 5 Day Pouch Test. I'm thinking I need to do that right away. Brooke

Seriously, sugar does not bother me at all and I have been worried about this very thing happening to me.
Honestly- you seem to be so hard on yourself. This part of your post really bothered me "All my other friends haven't seen me in 3 years and think I am still thin. I won't go anywhere because I dont want to see anyone. I have to get it together." You must be so lonely and sad inside. I think the bigger issue is what is eating you not what your eating. Is there anyway you can do something for yourself that gets you outside and in a different environment? I really feel for you- I ahve the very same addictive behavior patterns.((HUGS))

I, too, am having the same problem. I eat small healthy meals, but then I find myself snacking on chocolate or sometimes peanuts throughout the day. I have gained about 40 pounds back. I will gain 5 pounds, stay there awhile, start feeling comfortable and then gain 5 more. It is the same cycle I was living with before the surgery.
I just found out about the new stomachphyx surgery. I was all ready to have it until I found out the price. I am still paying for the RNY so I can not go in debt for any more surgery and my insurance will not pay. I have got to get back on track. My pants are too tight and I keep going up sizes. I can't stand the thoughts of being morbidly obese again. I have to get control. Gastric bypass is by far one of the best things that has happened in my life. We have got to support each other and get back on track!!!
