Cool Long Timer

Hi All;
I haven't posted here for a few months, But I read now and then.

When I had my WLS 1-24-01 I was 338
Today I am 163....net 175 pounds
I lost 200.....to my goal
gained 35
lost 20
gained a few......lost a few....Just like normal folks do when they eat too much or slow down too much.

Alchohol was a bad culprit for me. gained weight and found I was having a real issue with the effect of alchohol on my new physiology. BE CAREFUL!

I Like Bridgit...can eat most anything...even "no no" stuff, with out any consequence. You will be able to do the dsame. But then comes the part where we have had to learn..,WLS is a tool.

I would say I had text book perfect results. Arthritis better...heart great...no more sleep apnea...I can actually run instead of waddle!

I have however, just been diagnosed with lymphoma....and there are issues with my disgestive tract. No realtionship or corrrelation to the WLS.

So......I Just began some ugly chemo and the doctors want me to hold my weight. Yup they told me to eat anything I can whenever I can. Still I ate cottage cheese for breakfast and will eat bean burrito for lunch. Proteins first.

But I must admit...there are a few hershey's kisses in my desk drawer...LOLOL

Default Ed,

You're so funny! I thought about that comment and decided no one would think that! I was wrong again! Damn, I hate when that happens. LOL

I am not long term post op yet. I am a year post op, but if I continue to breathe, I expect I will be a long term.

I came from 246 pounds to 121-131. I carry about a 15-20 pound pannus. Depending on the time of month, and what is going on in my life, my weight goes up and down in this window of ten pounds. I like the way I look best when I am at 121, but I feel the best at 125-128, head and physical health aren't always a match for me.

I live by the pouch rules for dummies. I stay strict with the rules when I feel my weight going up. When I go under 124 I eat whatever I want and whenever I want. I pretty much do that anyway, It doesn't take much to turn the tables either way. I can drop weight real fast still. I know that will probably change, but if I want to lose a pound or two, I just stick to the rules. My tool works when I work it.

I had osteo and rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus before surgery, they are there still, but much better. My blood pressure is under control, and I take no medication except my vitamins and acid blocker. I no longer have sleep apnea, and after not working for 16 months, I have been back to work for ten months and going strong.

Hugs,

Traci

Smile Im a long termer?

14 months out, y'all know my life long story sorry I wont bore you with ALL the details..... I was overweight all of my life, at 31 years old and several, SEVERAL weightloss attempts at 289 pounds I underwent GBP surgery. I looked into and was scared of it for five long years! I became informed along the way, talked to many Dr's and went foreward. man what a gift, I love me tool. It keeps me on the up and up and I love it! (Even when Im dying over dumping I love it that it keeps me from over, OVER doing it)
10 post op I got pancreatitis, I was in the hospital for a little longer than 3 weeks, and on home health for another 2 weeks. i was losing a pound a day, I continued to lose rapidly, then it slowed to about 5 pounds a week, then 3, then gosl. I never had a plateau and was at goal within 7 months and had PS at 9 months. I cant believe how it all happened so fast, sometimes I still feel like Im dreaming.
Right now I am struggling with maintenenace. All my life my weight has been a struggle, I was always trying to lose weight, most of the time under drastic measures that I dont know what a healthy well balanced diet is. So I am working on that one day at a time. It totally stinks that PPO insurance doesnt cover nutrition counseling, and it stinks too that although our surgeon provides awesome suport services for complaining purposes... but doesnt have a service for nutrition... Im sure all surgeons offices are like that, its still a drag. Perhaps that should be apart of the preoperative process, I dunno. Actually I have been considering joining weigh watchers to get that guidance.
It has been a totally euphoric experience being thin, being a "MILF" lol and being one of the beautiful people, it has been an adventure going through all the psych stuff of being such, at first I was uncomfortable with the new attention, now I am accepting it and enjoying it at times. Its nice to finally have people hold the door open for you, offer to help carry heavy loads and get awesome customer service!
