Default Laura is out of surgery

She called a few minutes ago and said she is done. She is having a lot of pain but already feels better than she did inside. No nausea....

So jealous Paige is happy for Laura but takign herself off to pout becasue she can't find a surgeon that not only has the skill to do a takedown but accepts her insurance....

But sincerely glad for laura!

Thanks for letting us know that Laura is "reversed" and feeling better!

Paige I hope you can get your reversal soon so that you can feel healthy!

And who would have known that it would be harder (impossible?) to get it reversed?? I know that you have checked with many, many doctors...is it the fact that the ones who do a reversal don't except many insurances, or what?

Default Seriously folks....

My comments weren't a bid for sympathy... just a bit of my very sarcastic wit.... perhaps I'm not as witty as I think I am...humm contemplation is in order I guess.....

To answer Katzz question, yes it is much more difficult to find a doctor that fits the equation I need Skill + compassion+ belief that sometimes these surgeries go wrong + accepting insurance + Insurance approval = take down. I have all of these in Dr. laura but skill. Not to say she isnt' skillful, she is one of the best surgeons I've ever met but the fact remians she has only done one take down and doesn't feel comfortable taking on a case as complicated as mine. she has my complete and utter respect for her honesty with me. In a heart beat I would recommend her for LapBand or RNY should an individual be set on having that. She is a superior surgeon!

I have reached a level of acceptance that I might not find all of these factors and have to make some exceptions myself. One would be until I can save the money to actually pay for the reversal myself, removing this factor from the above equation would considerably increase my chances of finding a surgeon and setting a date.

I am in fact very happy for laura and I sincerely hope that she finds the good health she is seeking. her journey is far from over unfortunately. Once the digestive system has been tinkered with a 100% recovery is virtually impossible. That is why most doctors say "take down" not "reversal"... RNY is not "reversalable", we can only attempt to put things back in order.

but again I blather... this is laura's thread... an opportunity to send her healing thoughts, good wishes and care.

laura bless you with all of thy above and my warmest congrats on your Journey!

Paige,

I don't think anyone on this board would think you were not happy for Laura.
You're such a big hearted person that wants to feel "normal" again. No one here questions your sincerity and willingness to help any of your TT family. I just wish that you could find a doctor that encompasses all the requirements so they can do a "take down" and you can get on with your life...feeling healthy. I can't imagine what you're going through...but I think of you often.

And I have to agree...Dr Laura Machado is one of a kind...and it is good to hear that she doesn't feel "skilled enough" to handle your take-down, shows you how much of a professional she really is. She's an up-front person that pretty much tells you like it is. Take care and thanks for caring about us all...telling us the good and the possible bad side of this surgery!

Cathy

PS~ I think your sense of humor comes through in your postings!
