Angry I am getting out of control!

I think THAT is the understatement of the year. I have been eating really really really bad. Since Thanksgiving I have gained 5 pounds. Yes people 5 pounds. I have been starving and eating to much bad food. I am embarrassed to be posting this but feel like I need to so its out there and I am not sitting there fooling myself. I know I do not want to be fat again! To make that a reality I need to make some changes and do not know where to start. Well I know where to start stop eating the crap but how do I overcome the hunger? I need some help with snack ideas. If anyone has any suggestions or just wants to slap my hand please feel free. I have finally come to terms with my food addiction so why do I continue to hurt myself? It's just food for goodness sakes. I know it taste good but who said we need to eat for taste not nourishment? Off my soap box now, I just needed to voice my problem to understanding people so I canget back to reality. Last thing I want are the snickering looks from others that suggest that this too wouldn't work and yeah she's not so hot now is she. They are out there waiting to say it.

I think this is a great post - why?? Before surgery we would have gained 50lbs and shrugged but a simple 5lb gain can have us going completely mad. Hon its FIVE pounds and its a wonderful thing that you now have that control to be upset by it.

My weight fluctuates every now and again and I will gain 5/6lbs when I overdo the carbs. To get myself back on track I go back to basics for a few days and this does the trick for me. If I get desperate I spend a day or two doing a pre-op diet - my choice is milk and yoghurt and again this kicks me in the right direction.

Don't be hard on yourself as you now have that 'trigger' that our skinny friends have always had - gain a few pounds so cut back till they are gone and get sensible again.

Hope you get back on track soon

Smile I know you guys are right

...but I am stressed. I have been at this weight for a while. I look at my body without clothes on and see where I can still lose some weight, but I tend to wonder if this is it for me. I am 180 and a size 10. Now I know that sounds strange but that is me.Most people who weight 180 are not a size 10. I just wonder if my body will drop any more weight. I hope so I want to get down to at least a 8. A 6 would be cool but I am not holding my breath. What do you all eat for snacks? Any suggestions would be helpful.

PS

I know it is about health but hey Black Barbie would be nice too

My favourite snack is cheese and crackers - I always carry them around with me just in case I get the urge Other times I'll just sip on a protein drink.

I like the SOuth Beach Diet Protein Bars...they are convenient and don't taste like protein bars. I especially love the Peanut Butter ones.

Good luck!

Default I feel your pain!

I haven't gained, but I haven't lost the way I should either. We can't eat like horses any more, but we can sure eat like sturdy, little Welsh ponies!
What seems to work for me is to get back to the protein. Protein snacks stick longer too. My new favorite is the Special K protein water; it comes in a dry mix now too. My favorite is the Mixed Berry in the bottles, the lemonade in the powder. I try to do one protein water or one protein shake per day.
Last night I went through the kitchen like a white tornado and threw out all the holiday junk. If it ain't around, I ain't tempted!

I completely understand where you are coming from. What is funny is that I am also 180lbs and were a size 10. I just hit 178 lbs last night. I couldn't lose anything for about a month. But I know that it is because I ocassionally have foods that I am not suppose to. Let's face it, we all do it sometimes. But I realized that I want to hit my goal weight of 150lbs by my birthday in April. So to get back on track, I am going back to basics also, more protein shakes and more exercise. I am cutting out all the things that I know that I shouldn't be eating. However, if I feel the need to have a small bite of something, I will not deprive myself because that is where people fall all the way off the wagon and end up eating a whole bag of something over a period of time. It's okay to be stressed, just find a different outlet to the stress other than eating. I hope that I helped a little.
