Default Food Issues a YEAR OUT??

Is it just me??? Or does everyone have some problems with food still a year + out? I was eating pretty much everything without problems. I mean I dump, but that's not what I am talking about.

15 months out and I can no longer eat Steak, ham, turkey, some types of chicken, bread-or breading of any kind. I can't eat lettuce, most veggies, and the amounts I can eat of each are limited to a few bites.

I am trying very hard to stabilize my weight. I do NOT want to loose anymore, but I am having a HELLUVA time eating. Things that never would have bothered me before are starting to come right back up!! It reminds me of being a few weeks out with strictures. I know it can't be a stricture...so what is it? Am I not having problems with Popsicles, teas, liquids...except MILK for some reason...I started dumping if I drink more than 8oz. a day of it.

I just don't get it...is this common or a sign that things are always changing with this surgery? As it is, I am eating 8x a day, just to get in Cal. a day. I have NO appetite and no desire to eat. So what is this??? Transition? I hate to complain, but I didn't know where else to check for information on this. Hubbie suggested I ask the EXPERTS here...Someone always has the right answer. And NO VAN...I can't live on Starbucks alone...The closest one to me is 45 miles away!!! I swear I would if could though....

Default not to be stupid...

But why can't it be a stricture? And if it's not a stricture, might be an ulcer... plus, I know you just had surgery.... I had a heck of a time after my gall bladder surgery getting my eating straightened out. Something about it just threw me WAY out of whack...

Not at all stupid Lisa...I wondered the same thing, but my Surgeon said that my odds of getting a stricture past the first 3 months that I had them is near impossible. And, it's not presenting like that...I can still drink and eat squishy things without restriction. It's things I have never had a problem with that are now being problematic. Sounds goofy I know. I hear you about surgery too. I am 4 wks out, and although he tightened the abdominal area...A WHOLE FREAKIN LOT...It shouldn't be affecting the pouch like this? Should it? I'm at a loss too...which is why I am asking. I guess I could be wrong on all counts...which is why I posted. What do you think?

Default Might be a Dyann question

That one might be a question for Dyann... I can't come up with a reason why tightening the skin on the outside could affect the pouch capacity, but I don't know how radio waves work either... or TV, or microwaves, or even car engines for that matter. Humans are even more of a mystery.

The only other possibility that I can come up with might be meds--anything you're taking that could diminish your appetite at those levels?

Thumbs up

Ohhh Laura.

I just had a Dr's appointment yesterday due to not keeping solids down (again) for more than five days.Liquids and mush ,I am cool.

I still try every day to eat something dense but it is just not gonna happen for a while....I know in my mind that at 2 1/2 years I should be past the "Pured" stage but my cards were delt a little differently.

Please dn't hesitate to get yourself looked at...I had to be dialated at 2 years post op.My stoma was I think at a 4....7-8 is when we have touble with mush and liquidsSo anything can happen.

Keep us posted~

Hey babe,
I would drink as many calories as possible for now. And I think it could be a stricture - for anyone to say it is unlikely for YOU to have a stricture...It is also unlike to have 3 or 4 or whatever it was, but there you go.

ANYWAY - for the short term, drink constantly. Shakes, whatever. CIB, anything you can get your hands on that stays down. But this soon after surgery, you really do need to keep the calorie count up. I know you know...

Good luck honey-pie!

Laura, I'm afraid I only have speculation myself but I was wondering if just the stress of the surgery could have slowed things down. Also, the pain meds may be slowing things down too. Also I'm wondering if anesthesia is effecting you. The other concern I have is an ulcer, like Lisa suggested. Ulcers can present an awful lot like strictures. I would call your doctor and see if he has any ideas. In the meantime work on taking in liquid protein and mushy things. Small frequent meals just like before.

Hey Zem. Just another thought. I was feeling that way and bought my handy dandy "Target" brand pee test only to find out we are expecting. Is that a possibility?

/ducks! Just a thought!
