Default Starting to get depressed

I have been very happy with my weight loss, I will be a year out the 19th of Sept. Only thing is now all my friends and family are telling me I look terrible. They say I have gone to far and lost to much weight. Great, first I am a overweight blob, now I am a thin rail. Whats a person to do. Yes I think my current weight is not good but I eat and I still lose. I have my 1 year appt on the 19th and I already spoke with my nutritionist, she said EAT more. How does one do that when food is so unappealing. I feel so depressed these days.

I am sorry you are feeling so blue.

I am no expert, but I have a suggestion.
Based on observations of many post ops people, I find that a healthy relationship with food must be attained in order to find true freedom from the addiction of food.

The addiction is not really about food, most often the addiction is a control issue. This is why people often times transfer addictions from food to others, such as alcohol, spending $, sex...and ther things.
For others the control comes in the shape of leaving the bad relationship, or changing jobs and then there are the poeple who chose to abhore food, as if it is an enemy...the predator who ruined the life of the pre- surgery person.
They have dificulty finding the proper balance with food.
It may be a journey, but if you are physiologically sound post- op and you have no mechanical error in your re-routing, then you should be able to eat healthy and nutritious foods.
After all, many post op people are able to gain all their weight back.
So perhaps you need to work on a healthy relationship with food.
Find a place for nutrition and happy meal times in your life.

Your words about food being so unpleasant makes me think you may want to work on a new attitude with food.
It is not your enemy, you can control it and you will stay thin.

I hope this helps, if what I can suggest sounds good, than give it a try.

If I am off the mark than pass this up.

Good luck to you!

BTW, we have a monthly support meeting 2nd Tuesdays
7:00
my house (O'side/Vista)
Love to have you!!

Perhaps a Lexapro prescription is in order....will clear up those blues and help stabilize that weight too (which is usually an unwanted side effect but in your case might be a good thing)

Obviously, this is a doctor matter though.

Good Luck!!!

Default Thanks

Thank you so much for the replies, they were so much appreciated. You are right in most of what you say, the food issue is geting pretty bad for me, I am finding it a chore and not a pleasure to eat. I have had alot of other issues happen in the last couple months that is changing my life forever, long story.......but the short part is that my ex-husband had my children and they never knew about me (not of my doing) anyways my daughter April found me through the inter-net and we have built a relationship and her family is now moved in with me. A daughter, son-in-law (who is great) and 3 grandaughters is a big adjustment to someone thats been alone all her life. We do sit down every night to have a family dinner so I am at least eating that. Breakfast and lunch is another thing. I have my 1 year appt on the 19th and I will see whats what, I also am making an appt with my PCP for some anti-depressants. Thanks again you two for taking time to give me some advice. I would love to come to your support meetings Rain I just get so busy at times I forget when they are. I guess I am just two overwhelmed to keep my head straight. Oh yes and to add to my list I also take care of my elderly mother, so there are 7 people in my house now....oh MY!!!!!

Default it will be ok

Starla-
That is so cool that you and your daughter have reunited. I am sure it is overwhelming to have everyone at the house though. You know that Mueller has support 3x a month so try and make it to one of those. Would love to see you again. It's been over 6 months. Don't be a stranger and and I am glad you are recognizing the issue and starting to deal with that. That is half the battle.

I am no where near your place in ths journey...so I haven't experienced this first hand, but I have read for those who need to gain weight...or slow weight loss, they should do the opposite of the pouch rules for a while..like drink water with meals etc...I think I read this in the Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies book...but ask your surgeon about it.

I have to always be consicous of what I eat and quantity. Although I am not as low weight as you, I am below the weight that I had planned and can look sick at times...so I had to add in snacks (healthy ones) and seem to be able to steady the numbers within about 3 pounds. Its a tough job either way....we never let go of our food issues, one way or another! Add in protein drinks if you can for calories.....I am doing granola bars with a piece of fruit to increase my calories. I still like the taste of food, which really does help.

Most peeps who have the WLS lose over 100 pounds. Didnt the doc talk to you about that before you had your WLS. Your weight loss is right in line with what people normally lose. I guess you could try drinking when you eat to get more food in. good luck
