Default Found out what the pain was..

Hey guys. I have posted here on and off for a few years. A month or two ago I posted on here about incredible pain.. someone mentioned that I should eat less. I was a bit offended, as I am doing very well in terms of portion control and what I should and shouldn't eat. I knew something was wrong, so I made an appointment. Good thing I did.

I saw my general practitioner who scheduled an appointment with a doctor who could perform an ultrasound on me. A week later, I saw my bariatric surgeon who told me that I had several hundred gallstones. The pain I've been experiencing on and off since last year has actually been due to gallstones, not specifically because of the gastric bypass (although the stones probably formed due to rapid weight loss).

My surgeon scheduled me for surgery 2 weeks later, and I had the operation done on Monday. The same surgeon who did my gastric bypass did my gallbladder removal; he was able to look over me and make sure everything is going right in there. It turned out, upon closer examination (with me on the operating table) that I had a hernia in my intestines. He fixed that, too, which I'm very grateful for.

The whole point I'm posting this is that I've met several people over the past year with gastric bypass and pains, and they always think that they've somehow failed themselves, that they're doing something wrong. Well, I felt that way too, and I had a really rough year because of it. Make sure you see you doctor! Don't hesitate!

Josh

I still have my gallbladder....luckily no gallstones at this time. I know many people had their gallbladder removed at time of bypass and some with their TT.

Good advice. It's not worth messing with your body. If you're in pain seek help from your dr.

I'm always encouraged when I hear people have problems post GBS and they are able to have it corrected. I agree with you about the blame game we play...been doing it for months now and just recently stopped!

We also have a new thread for "revision" you now qualify you lucky dog.... come over post and share your experience! I love happy endings!

Gallbladder attackes can be nasty! It only takes one little stone, the size of a matchhead to put a grown man to his knees (My DH years ago)... I knew my time was coming (Fair Fat & Forty)... and got mine removed at the first hint of trouble!

Have a great recovery and congrats on the fantastic weight loss!

So glad you're doing better Josh. Pain is not something to ignore. I fear gallstones very much!
