Ah Paige, I am so sorry to hear this. My heart aches for you. I thought you were doing well when you started to gain weight. The best thing to do is what will make you feel well. If you are not having a good quality of life, then it is definately something to think about. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I am sending you hugs and support....I am sorry I don't have any knowledge on reversals.

thanks i appreciate the thoughts... not many people have much knowledge about this part of WLS... it doens't happen often but I'm ordering the book that Marie I think suggested and another friend offered to do some internet research cuz I'm not finding much. I think it's rare enough that many people don't talk about it....

Paige,
I'm sorry that things have come to this. I had been watching to see if you had been doing any better. I don't have any wisdom for you--I wish I did. I'm finally starting to feel better and am putting on weight (I'm doing that quite well, thanks), but I was also told I might need reversal. Maybe doing the TPN and giving your innards a break for awhile is what they need to settle down and heal.
We are a family, and we are with you, no matter what you need! Please come here often and sit with us, let us give you our strength.

Sending you good thoughts
Paige, I don't have any words of wisdom on this topic, but I just wanted to let you know that I am sending you good thoughts and keeping you in my prayers. I'm so sorry about this ordeal. Whatever you decide to do, I hope that your health improves and that you will be well.
And, a not-so-minor point, I think you are incredibly brave and inspiring - although you say you wish you were more like Van and Trina and Carrie in dealing with your pain without complaining, you yourself have shown a great deal of strength and grace in the face of a truly terrible situation and you still find it in you to be supportive of others. I think it was Churchill who said "Courage is not the absence of fear, it is the facing of fear", and you do that every minute of every day! I wish you all the best in this journey...

Paige I'm with you
Paige honey, you know I'm right there with you no matter what. I have posted about reversals.. not too much information out there. That lady Dani.. she is not doing well after her reversal. I got an email from a gal who had one and gave me her number.. she said she had it done a couple yrs ago and was literally disabled. I'm not telling you that to scare you cuz I'm in the very same boat.. and you need to know it. If you want her phone number I'll dig it out.. I personally didn't call her because I don't want to hear about someone who is doing badly after another surgery to correct the original problem. I'm sorry we are both in the same situation. We rolled the dice and lost in my opinion. Janie

The TPN will be a good thing I'm hoping get me out of this light headedness and crazy malnutrition. Need to bulk up a bit before they can do the surgery because I'll be on the table a while she said also to donate blood which i can't do yet so I'll have my own if they need it.
I'm going to keep trying.... maybe a miracle will happen and I'll feel better!

Tried that phone number and it's disconnected...
I've talked to 3 people since yesterday and 2 are doing fine with only about 10 to 15 pounds of weight regain after a few years. The other one isn't doing so well, her issue was pain and it didn't go away after the reversal but she said ti's okay because now her pain meds actually work and that's makes it better unfortunately she can also eat like crazy so she has gained back 90% of the weight.
I know you are in a worse boat than I am at this point Janie and honey I'm sorry..... sometimes all I do is bitch bitch bitch but honestly I've rolled the dice once and didn't do so well so this time I'm holding on to the dice until it's been a year. Too many people have said that after a year their bodies suddenly adjusted and they got better, so I'm going to give that a chance. My 1 year is in September, I'll do TPN until then, it's only a few months away.
I promised my kids to go to Disney and broke that promise 3 times since September 06 because of complications and flare ups... I'm going to Disney August 4th if they have to push me around in a wheel chair all day... I'm going.
I also have a committment to my husband in late August and I'm going ot keep that one too. Ive been like this for almost 10 months now...a few more wont kill me. I talked to the doc this morning and she agreed that I could hold out until then if we closely monitor my labs and BP...

Thanks Donna....
I know none of us want to "go back" but if I end up doing this at least I can share my research with you.... and we don't "have" to get fat again. I honestly believe that if I do reverse, I can keep the weight off. I have a new relationship with food and it's a pretty good one. My daughter just mentioned last night how different I am in food choices and not just because I "can't eat" but because I know more about food and how it works with your body.
My daughter, sister, and several aunts are all "normal" and we have the same body type... they just ate a hell of lot less HoHo's than I did....
The other thing is that some people get reversed and dont' get better but have other problems like High BP, Diabetes(sp?), back pain etc... that isn't the problems I have, mine is strictly absorbation related and if they fix that maybe I won't have any issues at all. I think pain will always be an issue for my abdomen but that's because I have the mother of all scar tissue. That's not going to change....unfortunately but again all the other stuff will go away, the doc was very confident about that part of it.

Reversal
I think it's really dangerous to undergo a reversal. someone my sister knew had a reveral and died on the operating table. her body just could not handle it. it's a very dangerous surgery.
