Incredible tearing pain in stomach?
Hey guys. I haven't posted here in a long time! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone here has experienced a pain in their stomach after eating too much that feels like their stomach is being ripped open? The pain is so excruciating that when it happened to me the first time, one year ago, my girlfriend actually called an ambulance. Thankfully it's only happened a handful of times, like 4 or 5 times, but it's terrible. The only way to make the pain go away is to take 400mg of Ibuprofen and hope for the best.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, if they have any insight as to what triggers it, how they deal with it, etc.

Don't eat so much?????
How much is too much? Though the stomach does relax, you can still overdo it. Take smaller bites, chew well, and have an awareness of what's going into your mouth.

That's the thing. I didn't eat too much. I just had a cup of coffee and a little bit of foccacia bread. It really came out of left field. Has anyone had any bad experiences with caffeine this way?

I just dump on caffeine. How much foccacia? If you put it in a cup of water (coffeee) and it swells, is it waaaaaaaay more than your pouch can hold?
If someone had to call an ambulance once, you need to see your surgeon, you might need to be scoped.

What do you mean I may need to be scoped? What's being scoped?
Also, good thinking with the bread swelling. Never thought about that.

Having an endoscope put down you throat to see if you have a stricture or an ulcer.

Certain foods hit my gut hard ... e.g. rice
it actually feels like someone is hitting me in the belly
it only takes once to figure out what to stay away from
now caffeine doesnt bother me a bit for some reason as I am a daily coffee drinker

You shouldn't be drinking when you are eating. When I drink too soon before or after I eat something, I get nauseated and my pouch gets very pissed off at me. Maybe yours is doing the same. One of the first rules of this surgery is NEVER drink while eating, preferrably 30 minutes on each side, before and then after.
Secondly, you shouldn't be taking ibuprofen. It is an NSAID and we are not supposed to take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories (i.e ibuprofen, Advil, motrin, Aleve, Naproxen, etc.) after having this surgery due to the increased risk of ulcer and GI problems. Change it to Tylenol. If you ever have an ulcer (like I had) you would NEVER even think of an anti-inflammatory going into your mouth again.
Try not drinking with food hopefully you will not have anymore pain like you experienced. This is a trial and error journey, as I'm sure you know being so long out, so just listen to your body.

I've taken Acetominophen in the past (in direct response to this kind of pain, as well) and it never seems to help. At all. So it's either the terrible pain when it happens, or Ibuprofen. I have a meeting with my surgeon in August. I will talk to him about it.
Thanks for the advice.
