#1: The choice to buy the candy is yours. Make the right choice. Have you tried the sugar free Werther's? The sugar alcohols are pretty low, they're tasty and satisfy the candy craving. Everything in moderation sweetie.

#2: Like Jenni said, we miss you at support group. We were very sorry that you couldn't make Michelle's going away party--I couldn't get Lee to go home because he kept hoping you'd show up. But we totally understand about the migraine.

Glad to see you out of hiding gf, now hopefully you can start making it back to support.

glad your facing reality...that is always the challenge!

I have been posting my basic rules, so if you have already seen them disregard..utherwise you may want to follow them or at least some.
2 years out seems to ber the magic number for weight gain, realizing and rectifying is key!

maintaining is as much a journey as the weight loss.
I have a few rules I instilled early on.
1. Do not deprive
2. Moderation
3. One bite rule.
4. Learn to say no to your self.
5. Enjoy your meal.
6. Make healthy choices.
7. Do not drink with meals.
8. protein first veggies then fruit..last startch.
9. excesize...something..anything
10. always remember where youve been.

I think you are a very loving and accommodating wife and devoted mother. It doesn't seem to matter what kind of sacrifices you make to placate your household and allow them to be on their own for 2 stinkin' hours a month that help you maintain your self esteem and emotional health. I think that's pretty selfish on the part of those perpetrating the guilt trips. Nancy, you are eating because you KNOW this is not right, and you are not happy, and food soothes. I think you have to dig deeper than "you are choosing to eat bad foods." Love yourself the way you would a dear friend, Nancy. Wouldn't you tell a friend the same advice if she came to you with the same issues?

And Nancy, it's NOT just once a month for support group. You have not attended in 4 months if we count next week when you said you can't come. You also haven't been on the forum in months. That's significant and very passive aggressive in its attempt to sabotage your dreams and goals. I wish you felt safe enough to put your foot down and say that there are 720 hours in a month, and by God, 2 of them WILL BE for me!

Ain't Mama happy, ain't no one happy! I don't doubt your boys are having trouble, they see how unhappy you are, the reasons for it, and they begin to feel insecure as well. I betcha if you were allowed to come back to group the tension level of the household would drop. If not everyone embraces that idea, then you are forced to assume that those people want you to fail and get back to your old (fat, low self esteem, manipulatable) self.

Why don't you give me a call, Sweetheart? I've got time to talk now that the cats are the only ones I talk to. I'm hurting for you, SisterWoman, and I encourage you to take 1 step every day to assert your worth and demand your due. You deserve nothing less.

Donna, my precious sister! I had tears in my eyes as I read your post. It makes sense that I could be sabotaging myself to deal with the stress of the marriage stuff & by gaining weight, deal with the fears that it's the weight loss that caused the problems. (Even though I know it's not true!) My DH who truly is dear has told me to go to support group, but I just didn't feel like it was a good idea. He's really stuck with me thru some painful times.

As for next week, I will be driving my son over to Phoenix that day, so I won't be in town. I think I need to get my bottom over to Dr. Callery's support groups -- especially a pre-op group. And I'll give you a call soon. Promise!!!!

Rene, Thanks for your kindness, I need my peeps! Tell Lee I appreciate him too. I'll try the SF Werther's, that sounds good.

I feel like I'm sabotaging myself and nothing I do helps anymore. If I try to cut back on food nowadays I feel starved and eventually relapse and eat more just like before surgery.

This Sucks!!!
Jennimaria! You, Marcia & I need to make a pact to not sabotage! Whatcha say???

Hey! I have an idea! Are you going to be in town on Tuesday? I'm not going to be able to be at Wednesday's meeting either, so I thought I'd make the trek north and drag Donna with me to see the North County folks at Rain's support group. Wanna come with us!?
