Unhappy Anyone else pass out?

Hi all,
I am new to this forum and was looking for some insight. I had bypass March 13, 2006 and have lost about 110.
I was wondering of anyone else has had trouble with passing out? I have passed out five times now and its really scarey. I have seen a cardiologist because my heart races and my blood pressure is low. Do any of you have any experince with this?
Thanks!

Oh my, so sorry to hear about the passing out. It certainly does sound scarey. Do you have any warning, like you'd have time to pull over if you are driving? It has not happened to me. But it sounds like it could be fluid volume depletion, do you get all 64 ounces of water in each day? I have trouble getting it all in. I imagine you've had all that checked out. But just asking to see. I hope you get some answers and a treatment soon. Maybe someone else here has some wisdom and experience to speak from. Best Wishes!

yep I do and I jsut went through a bunch of testing... the cardiologist too. Mine is a lack of salt in my diet. Drink gatorade, eat olives and pickles that sort of stuff and see if that helps. Stay on top of it though... if I let my guard down for a day or two it comes right back.

There are far worse things than this! LOL

Same problem I had. They did a tilt table test and told me I had NeuroCardioGenic Syncope. Increase Salt, increase sports water...like Propel (3x@day)...and get on some sort of anti-depressent. You can google it, it's actually quite a common occurance for people like us. Your cardiologist will probably order the test....They basically make you pass out...If you have any questions, PM me.

Default passing out

Me too. They told me I had transient SVT waves. They basically told me my heart is electrically wired wrong. I start to feel my heart racing, like it's going to jump right out of my chest. Then the pressure builds up in my head, I can't breath, the world starts to get fuzzy. I finally got to the ER when it was happening and my heart rate goes from normal to 240 or so beats per minutes in about 3 seconds. They put me on Cardizm CD (spelling) and I am doing ok. The 'episodes' are few and far between now, usually when I get too hot for some reason.

Does anyone know what it is about this surgery that causes this to happen? I'm only 3 months out and have been having frequent dizzy spells to the point of almost passing out. This is worrying me.

Thanks for all the feedback! I am going to try Propel next.. and the salty stuff. The cardiologist has me on medication to increase water retention, a beta blcoker, and a medicatio to raise my heart rate.

When I firs thad the surgery I got really dizzy and weak but that time i didn't pass out. It turne dout I was dehydrated....

I have only passed out once, not a complete black out, but enought o send me on an ambulance ride.
The diagnosis is that my blood pressure and low iron caused my brain to be depleated of oxygen and the natural response for my body is to lay down to get the blood to the brain...so...down I wnet...

The solution for me is to try to get the iron up and make sure to lay down before I fall down again!

Arrow I thought I was alone

Me too. I passed out at work, I was in aresidents room of all places and she had air borne MRSA, the crazy thing was the perimedics took my face mask off of me, i couldn't believe it.... anyway I also get black out spells, like I am going to pass out and everything goes black for a few seconds and I force it to clear away kinda ... I don't know how to explain it.

Default Me too

I've passed out at least five times in the past two yrs. The doctors haven't come to any conclusion on why I do. I personally think it's my blood pressure as it's gone real low after surgery. Janie
