Default Anyone have trouble getting/feeling well after non-wls surgery?

I had surgery (unrelated to weight loss) about a month and a half ago. It really was a simple baby surgery compared to others that I have had but it kicked my butt! I haven't felt 100% well since having it. I keep picking up every little bug that comes around.
I am losing weight again (don't want to), my resting pulse rate today when I was at the dr was 136, I have very little energy and I am tired all of the time.
Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone have trouble getting back on their feet having a surgery after wls? What did you do to kick it back up?

Default Yep, same here

Gall bladder surgery kicked my butt... should have been up on my feet in one week or a week and a half. Took me three weeks to even start back to work part-time. I think our reserves are immediately depleted, but that's a guess. It's taken me five weeks and deliberately de-stressing my life to get my eating back on track...and I just had to go back to refocusing on high protein, drop a number of the carbs out that had crept back into my diet, and so on.

The bad part? I'm going to the surgeon today to talk about knee surgery. Not sure I can take a third surgery in less than two years. Then I think about our Dale and realize that we can deal with anything if we have to...

I am sorry to hear of your slow recovery. I believe that each time your body goes though a surgery it takes a little longer to recover. I have had five major surgeries since 5 of 02 and each time it takes longer to get back to a level of wellness. I also fine that recovery is a series of Plato's and you reach a new level of wellness on each level.

Of course be sure to increase your water intake and keep that protein level up. Get a complete blood work up......

I wish you the best

May God bless you and yours

Lisa - work has been incredibly stressful for me so maybe that is what is contributing to this slow recovery. Sorry to hear about a possible other surgery.
Dave - I am not good with the water thing. I will try to concentrate on that and see if it makes me feel better.
I was worried maybe my slow recovery was because I was getting older

Default Nope - that ain't it...

No, no, no! We truly AREN'T getting older... we're definitely getting better. Swear.

(Edit: Take that with a grain of salt--right after I wrote that, I used the tweezers to pull a white hair out of the crop that the hair fairy planted on my chin overnight. I may only be telling myself that we're not getting older in order to make mySELF feel better...)

Stress is killer for us, particularly post-op any other surgeries. Be kind to yourself, dear heart. It does get better, I promise.

Why do those darn midlife fairies have to visit us?

Thank you for the kind words. I am hoping to find a new job - that will lighten the stress!
