Default Keeping my clothes

It's funny. I was reading Van's thread about not being able to let go of clothes that are to big for her. I'm in the exact opposite position. I have relatively few clothes that fit me, and a LOT of clothes that don't. Even before I decided to go for surgery, I kept them in our closet.

When my wife went back home to the Philippines for a visit (two years ago), she brought back some of the most beautiful shirts for me. Unfortunately, a Philippine extra-large is almost like a medium here. I refused to give them away, because I knew, somehow, I would lose the weight and be able to wear them!

I also have some Brooks Brothers trousers I outgrew. I want to wear them again so bad, but I'm just not able right now.

I will tell you this - once the clothes become to big - they are GONE. I'm not keeping any reminder of the size I was - except pictures. I did that a few times. Kept the old larger clothes "just in case", every time I'd lose weight.

Can you believe that? It's almost like I was setting myself up to fail.

No, I just want them out when the time comes.

I kept all my small clothing (size 6-12) for a decade. I just knew I would wear them again someday. Now every piece is gone...I kept nothing from my fat days. Even my size 8 wedding dress I donated......of course, there's very little left of my fat days other than pictures and fading memories....well, I still have the big honking SUV that didn't seem so big 2.5 years ago
