I always felt that... If I lost the weight, my life would be perfect!! blah blah blah And I would NEVER gain the weight back!!! blah blah blah
You get the picture.

I am learning that health is a life time commitment. It's not all about losing weight! Imagine that!

Ya I know...the weight is just a part of it.It is a lifetime comittment to have a healthy lifestyle.
Its such a mental thing and you have to get a grip on that part to understand the rest.

My life is so much better now with the weight gone but I am still so afraid of gaining that weight back. I know if we keep in touch with the fact of where we have come we can get ourselves under control. I just pulled out my pre surgery picture and I think I am going to start looking at it more to remind me why I am trying to keep my self on the good food choices.

What part of San Diego Julez? maybe we could get together some time to chat and walk. Let me know what you think. We seem to be in the same boat, and started around the same weight to.

Just wanted to thank you guys for sharing your experiences. I do deal with the munchie monsters, but make good meal choices. Listening to all of you serves as a reminder that we never actually "arrive", we always have to work at this. I hope I am as successful after 2 years and am still here to get the support as you all are. You guys CAN do it.....then let me know how.

Well, I'm down two pounds, so that is a good motivator. I guess I could post my stats... 253/154/140-145. I'm 5'7". 99 pounds gone thus far. I do find if I stay away from the carby snacks, I feel better. It is so hard to stay away from that stuff though, because it goes down the easiest. Sometimes I just want to have a meal that I don't have to worry is going to get stuck!

Congrats on your weight loss and for jumpstarting your loss again! That is great. I struggle with carbs too, but I think it's just habit and head hunger.....then I do feel sluggish along with discouraged when I do indulge. I'm surprised though that you talk about food getting stuck still. Have you asked you doc if that is normal? I am close to 10 months out and as long as I eat slow and chew I can swallow without things doing that. I would ask just to be sure everything is ok. If so, maybe we can help you think of some better choices that are easier to eat. Keep up the good work!

I just had my 1 yr. checkup and Dr said everything is fine. But I do get food stuck occasionally. Actually it has been a few months, but the last time, it ended me up in the hospital for a couple of days from dehydration. I have been very careful since then. Usuallly it is stuff like cheese or italian sausage.
Sometimes I just want to drink my protien drinks and eat crackers and never even try anything else. I'm a big 'ol chicken!

I wonder if your pouch openeing is smaller than mine? I like food too much still to feel that way......alas. I do make sure I chew my food so well it is like puree before I swallow it. A few good effects of NOT chewing well enough cured me. The one food I did have trouble with was long pieces of spaghetti, but now I am able to eat it. I chop it like it's for a baby.
