Well crap, you're never quite out of the woodss
I was in the ER and admitted to the hospital for an upper GI bleed. Needed 2 units of blood. Happended very fast. I was fine on Sunday, then Monday morning, I was pooping blood. They found a huge blood vessel near the anatmosis site. It was fixed. The only thing they could think of was the cause is that we are presdisposed to GI bleeds and stress along, with the flu bug I had last week.

Holy CRAP! You poor thing - how frightening. I hope you're feeling better now.......
Did this have anything to do with the GPS, do you think?

Sounds scary.
I was sitting here just this morning thinking about my 1 yr check up yesterday. My Surgeon released me. I no longer need to see him. Anyway I was sitting here thinking, "What now? Am I at risk for anything now?"
Anyway, enough of my rambling. I hope you're recoving and all is behind you.

What an awful experience ! I hope you are feeling much better now! Did they feel it could possibly be related to any post -op issues? Also: Have you or anyone else been advised of the data now being studied on this surgery 3-5 years out and bone loss from lack of serious vitamin D ? I saw my physician the other day and he was telling me that now they are concentrating on Vitamin D "problems" found in GBP patients. Apparently, they are finding a growing number of patients (out about 3-5 years after surgery) who are having major bone disease.???? Told me to make sure I get 1500 calcium daily and 800 of Vitamin D (cod liver oil ???) This was the first I've heard of the increase in problems with bone disorder from surgery! Just thought I'd mention this and see if you or anyone else knows of this study. Good Luck and I really hope you are feeling better. Denise
