Yikes scary! I've been pooping blood the past 2 days. Actually not really pooping, it's just bleeding. I thought I still had my period, but I don't. Maybe I should go see the doctor? Last year when this happened it turned out to be just small hemroids, but now the bleeding is a lot more.

It's always better to get it checked out to make sure.

They fix it by cauterizing the site and clipping off the blood vessel, plus inject a little epinephrine. They do it through an endoscope. That leaves a sore throat for a few days. For the endoscopy, they sedate you, so you don't feel it. THe absolute worse part was the gastric lavage. They had to suction the blood out to my stomach before they could do the scope. Even though they give you som lidocaine to swallow and some up your nose, it hurts! The nurse sticks a tube up your nose and down your throat. Then there's the whole gag reflex that wouldn't stop. I had it in for 15 minutes until it ran clear. I had tears running like crazy and spitting up the nasty tastin lidocaine.

Hey Marie;
Glad to hear your okay! Now behave yourself!
Why the epi? I thought that was used mainly for people in serious heart distress - you know, a "kick start"?
At least, that's what I remember from my EMT training!
