Post First fill on monday :)

Well thats me 7 weeks today post bandster and Im having my FIRST fill on Monday , Since my pre op diet & surgery have now lost 38 pounds .
Not super fast but its going in the RIGHT direction and Im happy .
Theres no race , The only goal I have set is : When I turn 40 I want to be STINKING FIT & HEALTHY .
So Ive got 2 years and I know I will do it ...
My loss has slowed down as I have no restriction at present due to loosing internal fat , hence the band slackens and then needs filled .
So everything Ive been doing for the last few weeks was on pure willpower .
Its been tough , its been a challenge and somedays I havent been too clever with food choices .
But I always re-think the following the day and get back on track !
My life has changed some what in this short time , I swim everyday for an hour before work , I walk everyday and I attend a weigh in and aerobic class weekly .
Somedays Im a grouchy cow but I think thats 'withdrawal' symtoms as well as all the loose estrogen banging about .
Ive been very lucky so far NOT 1 complication ... no vomiting , no bowel probs and my body has accepted the band well .
So all in all Im a happy wls patient .
I dont expect miracles as this isnt a miracle cure , My band is like my mum It Guides me , so after loosing my mum just 18 months ago I gained my band and Im hoping we have as good as relationship as my mum and I had
TT has been priceless to me for info & support pre surgery & post so I would like to Thank u all sincerely for educating me and preparing me for this life changing surgery .
Yes lap band is different surgery But our diets and our heads are pretty much the same
So I still find TT a great source of info & support .
Also Thanks to John & Dr Callery for making TT possible ..

I wish u all luck & success in all u do .

Best wishes

Sara x

UPDATE !!!!!!!!!!! Mon 24.11.08
Received my first fill today , wasnt scared I just relaxed and BINGO !!!!! Jobs a good un
I must say its a very perculiar feeling when they inject the saline into your band , kind of like when u get butterflys in your tummy .
The consultant numbed my port area and was very gentle bless his lil cotton socks
I must say the needle was quite long but I watched everthing , was so surreal watching my band, port and my stomach on a monitor .
I have a small type swedish adjustable lap band that holds 10cc , 6.5cc was injected today and boy can I feel 'RESTRICTION' .....
I was made to drink water after my fill and we watched it go down on the monitor to make sure I wasnt too restricted ...
The consultant was pleased with my weight loss and this fill should accelerate it again woo hoo ...
Liquids for a week , mushies for a week then back to normal foods .
Im excited the balls rolling now with my fills .
So all in all no pain and a very interesting day !!!!!!!!!!!

Best wishes
Sara xxx

Being that I have not had surgery yet.... I would be so happy to have that weight loss in 7 weeks.

You are doing great. Keep up the positive thinking.

I will be having lapband too in December

I think you've done an amazing job Sara.

I have no doubt that the band requires more discipline than I'm capable of so I take my hat off to you sweetheart.

You'll be in my thoughts on Monday for sure. Big hugs.

Ahh, Sara, great post. From what I've heard/read/seen of LapBand I think you are a super-star patient. I hope your first fill is QUICK and painless and your port-thingy is good to you.

Your "mum" is definitely with you every step of the way :-)

Your watching for the big 4-0 and I'm feelin the same way about the big 3-0! I've got a shorter timeline, but I know I'll be healthier and happier - and you will too!

Best wishes for Monday Sara and try to enjoy your (arctic?) weekend? Much colder now in Oxfordshire! Keep warm after your fill, the body will go through a little "trauma" and needs TLC - as will you. Forget a little about jolly hockey sticks!
Cheers,
Vim

Compared to others, one extra surgery is nothing! And statistically, the gallbladder is likely to cause issues anyway.

I went back to work yesterday (a little earlier than I should). Just a bit tired but yep! I am getting excited about the cruise. I want some sun, sand and sea and being with my TT family will be the icing on the cake.
