Question BAnd fills ?????

Hello

I have read the last reply and am somewhat confused? I have been told that you can not over fill a band? I went 10 days ago and had a 0.5 cc top up and was told that is now the last one I can ever have as the band will not take any more despite being able to hold 10cc. I was also advised that if the band is to full it can cause constant sickness and will need to be emptied out which means a 6 weeks wait to start again. For me that would take me over the year I have paid for treatment then I would have to pay £150 for a band fill. Having paid £7.500 for the band to be fitted in the first place I would not even consider now having any taken out either in case the band has problems.

For me that is not a risk I would be prepared to take at anytime. I had my last fill 10 days and have not been able to eat any form of solids since and have lost 7lbs in that time. As much as I am pleased with the weight loss and it makes me only 17lbs from my target....... I cant even eat half a weetabix for breakfast so sticking to liquids oly like when we first had the band fitted.

I still find it amazing that people say (you have had the easy option having a gastric band fitted) they have no idea what we go through before we have it fitted or what we go through now... I think it is a great tool but the end result is down to us and no one else with or without the band.

I am sure that doctors opinions vary but mine has told me, and I have heard from others, that the band can hold more than the stated cc's. I have not tried this myself but I do know that you will ALWAY need adjustments as the fluid disapates (sp). My last fill was almost a year ago and I was filled to 4cc's in a 4cc band. I do need a fill now for sure so I am not sure exactly what my current fill level is. I will make an appointment soon to have another one done.

I agree that people think having a band is "easy". I still have to eat health and exercise. I still have to make daily choices just like everyone else.
