Not enough Lap banders
I have found that this forum does not have many lapbanders and even if I search under the "Lap band" section many of the responders are gastric bypass ( RNY) patients. Lapbanders seem to have different issues and questions especially in the beginning with "fills" etc.
I have found another Forum called "Lap band talk forum" that lapbanders might find useful/helpful.
Not trying to get you to stop using this forum, but I have found there are not enough lap banders on here to answer my questions. When I asked about foods that bother people long term out, several of the people that replied were gastric bypass and while I appreciate that they took the time to answer, I'm pretty sure our pouches are different b/c of the band.
I plan to check both forums when I have a question.

Hi ... I had started in that forum too... It is HUGE (at least twice as many active members as here) and full of great people... When I shifted gears and decided on RNY, I was happy to find this place. The forum is set up very similarly...
The post-routine is quite different for the two surgeries and it's important to have lots of real-life experiences on fills, "sliming," ports, etc... While I would not want to chase anyone out of here, I highly recommend the site Comtemplating1 has suggested!

That's a very good site....I was a member while I had my band...great people. You are right, the two, RNY & Banding are different...I found everything I needed there...good luck with your band...it can work VERY well. My friend who had it done the same time I did lost 100 lbs, of course he exercised......lol!

I was not sure where I belonged on these forums - had lapbanding 10/23/07-no saline as yet - was doing ok without it according to Dr. at last office call. That was in Elkhart IN - but I am now in San Diego for the winter and find I am having some difficulties so scheduled appt with bariatric surgeon out here - Jan 29 .
How are people getting the info in the columns on the left? elizabeth

Click on USER CP in the upper menu, then look in the left column for "EDIT PROFILE" ... that's where this info is stored.
If you want more info on the lapbad than you are finding here, you might try the site listed in post No.1 of this thread...

I, too, started the forum adventure on LBT. I found there to be too much bickering and backstabbin over there for my taste. There is another lap band site called band2gether.net that is absolutely wonderful! b2g was founded by a couple, Susan and Paul, and Susan is banded. There are many wonderful people on there. Some post to LBT, too, but many came to b2g from LBT. I have been a member of b2g and still am, even though I ended up with the bypass instead of the band. Anyway, if you want an extremely friendly group to get support from, check out band2gether.net! They are awesome!

i hear ya
Yep, I was noticing that myself. I do appreciate anyone offering advice when people need it, but it does seem like the RNY'ers are commenting in the Lap band discussions a lot. Not really an issue unless they start dogging the band. It's really a personal decision and there are pros/cons for any path you take here.
Anyway, enough griping on my part, and I'm definitely not trying to start a flame-war, so I hope nobody takes it the wrong way - really!!
I do love LBT forum and was VERY active on it right after my surgery, but can't get to it from work at my new job, and I'm trying to get in with the founder of this site, so I thought it would be a good place to connect with his other patients and get more involved in their program.
Thanks for sharing about band2gether.net - I'm going to check it out!

Im a bandster and have got some great advice/support off here and made some lovely buddies on here .
Although Rny & banding are different surgeries u will find healthy eating /choices /emotional issues / general day to day wls battles are the same .
I stick with this site as I feel at home here , its like anything else If your input is positive & helpful so is the output .
I follow my surgeons/dietician guidelines and I post threads on here when Im needing advice or support .
And everytime TT members have been there for me and helped me back on track .
Im on LBT also and I will go there If I carnt get answers I need off here , But I defo think TT is SIMPLY THE BEST !
Happy new year ....

Shared experiences
Good point, Sassy! Bottom line, we all battle the same addiction and health problems, and our diet is pretty much the same post-op, so there are a lot of ideas to share, and it's still good to get support.
