Just had first band fill
Good Morning to you all,
I went yesterday to have my first band fill and I didnt sleep all night because I was worried as I am not to good with needles.
I was weighed and told I had lost another 11lbs and now lost 3 stone whci made me feel elated as it was the 25th August I had it fitted, then I was told to lay on the table and the consutlant came in and pushed my tummy and then stuck a large needle in 5 times before he found the right place... it was so painful I knew my fears would be founded.
He then decided to scan me and find the port it has moved he said due to the weight loss?
I am only praying now I dont need many more of thse done as I was so upset by the pain and last night I was very swollen in that area.
He put 5cc in then I had to drink this stuff and it wouldnt go through so he took 2cc out and it was done, I now have 3 days on liquids then 3 days on pureed foods so I am hoping that there will be a difference by. I alos have to go back in 2 weeks incase they want to out more in but the nurse will do that. I am told it is only the first fill that is done by scan to check the band is all right?
I hope you are all doing well take care Dianne

Oh Dianne, I'm sorry you had such a hard time with your first fill. Hopefully you won't need any more or if you do the nurse will be better at it. But congratulations on the weight loss!! You really are doing a wonderful job, my dear!! I'm proud of you!

first fill
Hi, I had my first fill on Wed. The Dr put in 2cc. It didn't even hurt. I had it done on my lunch hour. I go back in month for a check up. I can tell a difference all ready!
I had lap band done on 9-17-07. I'm down 11 lbs and I just started back on my treadmill walking this week.

There is a woman in my support group who has NEVER had a fill! She's lost something like 125 pounds : ) and was going in to have her tummy skin removed last week... All things are possible! Maybe one fill is all you'll ever need!

Good Morning
Hello thanks for the other replies i have had they are great.
I have had a call today and have been asked to go back in 2 weeks for a check up and if I need more they will do it again?
I have just finished my 3 days on liquids and now on soft foods for the next 3 days then back to normal again and I cant wait for my fish finger and 3 new pots lol
I am happy with the weight loss I have had and I really think it is mind over matter as for the first 8 weeks I was told I had no restriction as it had just been fitted? So why couldnt I do it before I had this done YET now I am determined to make sure I have lost all my weight in 7 months?
The mind is a powerful thing yet it has taken this to make me see sense.
have a great weekend Dianne

Gosh Dianne, that is cool that you've been able to lose so much. Forgive my conversion skills or lack thereof, but how many pounds is a stone? For me, after the initial 18ish pounds lost in the first 3 wks, nothing more. I am starving all the time...craving meat and bread like crazy...with no restriction I can now eat exactly the same amount as I did before the banding. So it's a constant choice "am I going to be very hungry and grumpy, or am I going to eat and feel decent?".
Everyone that gets banded is sooooo different and you are just an example of that. For me I suspect it will take at least a couple of fills before I hit the sweet spot.
Congratulations and keep up the good work!

Hello Rachel
I had the same trouble as you and found myself hungry all he time in the end it somes down to will power and we DO FIND IT dont we amazing.
There are 14lbs to a stone so thats 42lbs I have lost but I have been walking my feet off everyday with the dog lol.
I am finding it hard with this first band fill, I went out yesterday with my sons for a meal as it was his birthday, I managed half a jacket potatoe which was an improvement but later that I wanted something else before the 3 hours so that was a worry to me,
I am so pleased you are doing well that is a great weight loss in 3 weeks you must be so pleased.
I am off today to do my card making class with disabled adults I love it have been doing it about a year now and sundays wouldnt be the same without seeing them.
take care Dianne

Ive just had my first fill also
Hi there
I had mine last Tuesday and found an immediate difference, but this has slacked off somewhat over the last couple of days. Find I can still eat bread no problem, but if I stick to drier foods I find I am fuller for longer.
My gripe at the moment is that I am hungry at night still and I still cant get enough exercise in, so unlike you I am only 24lbs down instead of your fab 42lbs.
Must try to exercise more and increase the water I think. I think though that I may have to go for another fill at end of November as I think 4mls is not enough for me.
