Alison,

I had much the same experience. My first fill was Friday. I can eat exactly what I ate before the fill, and the same amount. I obviously need more. Luckily I don't have to wait longer than 2 wks, so I will call the dr. tomorrow. He put in 1.5 cc's and I really thought that would be enough!

It wasn't painful, but uncomfortable trying to find the port. I'm not looking forward to having another one so soon. I do want it to restrict my intake and do what it's supposed to do, though!

Dianne,
How are you doing?

He then decided to scan me and find the port it has moved he said due to the weight loss?

I am only praying now I dont need many more of thse done as I was so upset by the pain and last night I was very swollen in that area.

He put 5cc in then I had to drink this stuff and it wouldnt go through so he took 2cc out and it was done, I now have 3 days on liquids then 3 days on pureed foods so I am hoping that there will be a difference by. I alos have to go back in 2 weeks incase they want to out more in but the nurse will do that. I am told it is only the first fill that is done by scan to check the band is all right?

I hope you are all doing well take care Dianne
dianne,

Hi, I am new to this site and was reading through the posts... I also had surgery in Aug. 2007 and I am still only 35 lbs down
But, I have gone for 4 fills so far and there is no way that I would have ever done it without them numbing the area. It stings a little with the local anesthetic but it's the only way to go! I wish you luck with either not needing another adjustment or getting the pain free adjustment everyone deserves

Smile hello

I am pleased your fills are going better than mine did.

I have since had 2 more fills and they were not as bad as that I have to say.

I wonder if the more weight we loose the better it is to find the port. I enjoy the weight loss part of the band but still hate the needles.

I now have 7.5 in my band and have been told as I have a small band it might be the last fill I have as I only hold 10cc in total?

I have now lost over 5 stone and very happy but it seems to be slowing down now despite all my efforts to get the last 2 stone off before my wedding this year.

keep in touch Dianne

Oh my goodness! My Dr. numbs the area before he does my fills or unfills.
Ouchy!
Maybe you can ask him next time IF you need more later.
Congrats on your fill!

Unhappy Getting Ready for my First Fill and But Need HELP!

Wow! You guys are doing really great!!! I am 4 weeks post-op and have lost about 7 lbs. I am hungry ALL THE TIME! And what's worse is that I have some restriction, and food gets stuck and I wind up vomiting because I don't eat slow enough or small enough. I find anything dry or doughy will stuck, but I have found "bad" foods don't get stuck. I am so worried. I can't seem to get myself going. I have been exercising, although not enough. I need to make better choices and I'm just not. I need a kick in the head. Will the hunger be less once I get filled? Anyone with a similar issue, or words of wisdom?

Thanks!

Smile learning to control still needs support

Hello

I have just read you post and can see why you are worried. It is in the end down to us to loose the weight and all our old haobits still control us and we have to take steps to change that as well as the eating.

You have to make sure that the food you find easy to eat which are in your words (naughty) you do not stock in the house at all. I still have days were I crave choc and crisps but as they are not in the house it is not possible to eat them.

You will find the courage to start when you have finished testing the band we have all tried to at some time and it becomes inportant to eat well when you suffer from the sickness all the time.

dont be to hard on yourself as we have all been eating wrong for years and it takes time to adjust.

good luck Dianne

Default My First Fill

I had my first fill yesterday May 14, 2008. It was not bad. My Dr. Charles Morton used someting to numb the skin on my port area. When they stuck in the needle I did not feel it. He put in saline had me sit up while the needle and syringe was still inserted in the port. I was asked to take a couple big gulps of water. It went down ok and a little more saline was added. I got a total amount of 4 cc's of saline. I was on liquids after that as well as today. Friday I will begin the soft diet again. I was nervous but it wasn't that bad. I have lost a total of 19 pounds since my surgery on April 23, 2008.

Good luck other banders.
