  • The mortality rate from the Lap Band is one of the lowest among weight loss surgeries. It is suggested that the mortality rate is 1 in 5000, or maybe less.
  • Removal of Lap Band resulting from
    • Erosion
    • Slippage/obstructions
    • Balloon failure
    • Port infections
  • Roughly 10% require re-operation, of which around 5% are major.

Problems that can happen after Lap-Band placement encompass nausea, vomiting, stomach ulcer, gas bloat, problem ingesting, dehydration, diarrhea, constipation and heaviness regain. The band may deflate if a leak happens in the tubing, dock or the band itself.

Default lap band risks
Lap band risks are not as well known as the risks of other WLS. That maybe because of the general perception that lap band is safer.
