Default What are some of the general complications?

  • The mortality rate from the Lap Band is one of the lowest among weight loss surgeries. It is suggested that the mortality rate is 1 in 5000, or maybe less.
  • Removal of Lap Band resulting from
    • Erosion
    • Slippage/obstructions
    • Balloon failure
    • Port infections
  • Roughly 10% require re-operation, of which around 5% are major.
