Unhappy Repeat Lab bad

Hi. I am going to have repeat lab band because I have another hernia. Has anyone else had to have repeat band surgery?

Can you explain what you mean by repeat Lapband. Was it inserted once, then removed, and now you're having it reinserted again?

I'm a former bander, just asking cuz I don't understand.

Hi. I had lap band in May of 2006. Then this year I developed another hernia so my doc is going into to repair the hernia and do my lapband again. Same surgery. It looks like you have really done well with your lap band. It is hard for me to get mine tight enough because it causes me to get really bad reflux. Any suggestions this time around.

I had my Lapband removed two weeks after it was in - emergency surgery due to a perforated esophagus. I spent a month in the hospital (ICU, isolation, NPO, etc). I was one of the ones that LapBand didn't agree with.

So two months later I decided to go for the RNY *another Lapband was not an option* and began that journey. Since I had to have an open to have the LapBand removed, because of scar tissue and such, I had an open RNY. I am actually glad to have had the RNY over the Lapband, it worked better for me.

On the same day of my banding, my group buddy, Phil, had his Lapband inserted and he is down over 100 pounds now with absolutely no problems with his band. So it works for some and not for others, and then, not getting it tight enough seems to be a huge problem.
