Default Upper GI today saw no band????

I've had stomach and chest pains for a while and they ruled out the heart and today was sent to have an upper GI. They saw I had severe acid reflux but they couldn't see the band. Does anyone have any idea why? I may be paranoid but now I'm worried it's eroded or something, help!! brandyII

They didn't see the band!?!?! I hope it hasn't eroded or something. But wouldn't they have seen that? Maybe it popped off (very unlikely, but...) and is somewhere in your abdomen? Let us know ASAP!

Now I have to worry that I'll cough, it'll pop out of my mouth, shoot across the room and put someone's eye out!! JK, I don't know why they didn't see it but the nurse at my surgeon's office said they had to see the band and they didn't read it right and she's ordering it now. So we'll see. One step closer to getting it removed though so that's a good thing as Martha Stewart would say! thanks Nancy.

I'm pretty sure your WLS doctor KNOWS that there band running around in there somewhere! Couldn't have gone "too far" I'd suppose...

Your comment about the band popping out your mouth is hilarious!! Glad to hear you've got a sense of humor even with all you're going through right now. Keep us posted...and GOOD LUCK!

Well I saw the pics and the report today and it said I had a small hiatal hernia and esophageal reflux. I'm pretty sure I saw the band around the stomach but have no idea how they can see a hiatal hernia and esophageal reflux??? Any experts out there? I also hope it's enough to have the band removed for good!

Thanks any takers. brandyII

Not my band silly!!! See what happens when you get RNYs you get all silly! I want to get it taken out but don't know if that's reason enough to get it covered by insurance. I am in pain though so you should feel sorry me, lol!

I know! I was being silly. I'm sorry you are in pain. I'm not sure about insurance, though. Good luck.

How's your daughter doing?

My daughter weighs herself every Tuesday so I asked her today, she's very tall so it shows faster and she said she's lost 114lbs since April. It's not a competition but I'm trying not to gain 114 lbs, lol!!! It's youth and RNY, she's very disciplined also which helps plus the few times where she basically wasn't eating anything because of her stricture. But so far she's healthy and eating and supposedly talking all her pills etc... I asked her what her goal was and she just shrugs her shoulders. I try not to focus too much on it as I don't want her to be all focused on that part of her. Does that make sense? I was always put on diets as a kid by my mother and don't want to put that kind of pressure on her. Although she puts enough on herself I just don't want to add to it. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. It can get very complicated.

But anyway all's good knock on wood and I see you're doing well also so you must be pleased. Do you feel pretty healthy and all? Let me know. Take care Nancy.
