Question Real food again...how do I transition???

Hi everyone, I recently had the realize band procedure and I have made it through all of my stages and can now eat "real food" agian. There's just a little problem, I'm not sure how to transtion back to actual food. I've been eating egg whites, string cheese, beans, soft foods, etc but I'm afraid that once I go back to real food that I'll stop losing weight/streach out my new stomach/eat the wrong foods. I don't meet with my nutritionist for another few weeks and I was wondering if anyone had tips on how to get away from the protein shakes and back to solid foods. THANKS
Krysten-19 pounds lost

Well, I had a gastric bypass, not the band, but I think the process is pretty similar. You'll need to watch your portions and make healthy food choices so you will continue to lose weight, but that's do-able, it really is. Measure your food so you know you're eating a reasonable portion. Focus on protein first, then fruits and veggies.

I'm seven months out, and I still use a protein shake once a day to make sure I get enough protein. I just can't get enough from food alone.

Well here's a simple answer... You are eating real food.. eggs white, beans, etc are all real foods..

Pick something that aint so soft and give it a whirl. It's nothing to be scared of. There's no reason you have burn yourself a piece of meat, chop up some raw carrots and celery and deep fry the crispiest french fries possible.. LOL

go slow, chew well, stay away from heavy carbs.. Besides, what the worst thing that happens? You throw up.. sometimes thats a blessing in disguise..

I am having the same fears. Had my one month post op w surgeon this morning. Have lost about 18 lbs. They said I need to start eating to be able to lose more. I'm afraid if I eat more than my protein shakes, cottage cheese, greek yogurts and string cheese that I will gain weight. I hear ya! I also know these folks on TT have been there and can teach us much. They eat and they still lose. We can, too....I think!
