Default Breads

I have heard that after banding, breads will not be a part of the diet because it can get stuck.

Has anyone had a problem with breads getting stuck?

Are all breads and starches out forever?

Thank you, in advance.

Thanks TX Mom!

Do you still have the band? If not, how long did you have it?
What other foods did not agree with your band?

Default Hi Landy!

I'm almost at 3 months post op with my band. I've had a hard time with bread unless it's toasted. That seems to help. Tortillas go down pretty good as long as I chew them really good. It also helps if you have something like green chili or guacamole to dip it in.

Okay, I'm gonna call it like it is. This thread implies deprivation, of bread in this case.

When you think deprivation - of anything - you are thinking in a diet mode. Diet is a four letter word. It has no place here. There are loads of delicious substitutions.

I don't eat bread anymore, by choice. I used to love it, now it's just not that important to me.

It's all in the attitude, and in that respect it applies to any kind of wls.

I wish you the very best - please don't take this as a tongue lashing - it isn't. I am truly interested in your success, and I am trying to help in the part of this journey that is the most important - the mind set. Thin feels better than food tastes.

Bread should be fine as long as you chew it really well. Whole wheat bread is on the daily list from the nut of things to eat here in The Netherlands. This might be why we seem to have fewer revisions here. Bread feels a bit uncomfortable in the pouch, making the patient not want to eat for a few hours afterward. Thus they lose the weight and don't go back to get it tightened again (too tight is what causes slippage and erosion).

The only things I seem to have trouble with are raw carrots and croissants, but my band isn't very tight (and never has been) so I feel all my food sink within 60 seconds of it being swallowed.
