I am getting tired of protein shakes. As such, I starting trying some of the high protein bars. Is there any difference in the kind of proteins used in these. Anyone with expertise in this area, your help is much appreciated!!

I can tolerate the sugar alcohols so I do the South Beach Diet meal replacement bars....the Cinnamon is my FAVE...I think it has 19 g of protein and 220-240 calories....Somedays I can eat about 3/4 of one and others I can eat a full bar. I also like the vanilla creme ones and the peanut butter chocolate ones. I've tried other brands but the South Beach are the better tasting to me. GL...everyone is diff!

What I can tell you is that whey isolate is the protein that we absorb better. I'm not sure if there are any bars specifically that have whey isolate in them. I know the ones I use are soy protein and are developed specifically for bariatric patients so if you are in the stage that you can eat protein bars I would think they would be fine. If you are a RNY patient you may have to keep an eye on the sugar or sugar alcohol content but if you are a bander you should tolerate those find.
