Hey Zen! Yea, we're you know what deep in snow and today it's 10 (negative something if you factor the wind!) I keep telling myself spring - or our cruise, is coming!!! Happy New Year!!!

It's been an experience with my mom...whew. Conclusion reached after 3 months of total attention and devotion to help her settle, feel loved, meet new people and enjoy family:she's a bitter, angry, selfish woman who would turn on her own flesh&blood for personal gain. All learned the very hard way and with an enormous emotional price tag. I am still caring for her and her physical needs. I call daily to check on her, I get her meds, groceries, take her to dr appointments, whatever needs to be done. Her happiness is up to her, I had that talk with her. And told her that so far, nothing has given her much happiness because of her attitude and actions. I did have her evaluated for any possible organic causes such as dementia-just normal aging memory loss. I got her to two psych appointments and she refused to go again. I finally feel ok about pulling back emotionally. It's a sad story indeed. But I'm back to my life and doing things for me and that feels wonderful! Stay warm - it's bitter cold today! We'll stay in touch!

Welcome Rebecca!! You know the Genesis group has a support meeting..Just ask any of the staff...they can tell you when the meetings are. There are several of us from Genesis here...feel free to PM me anytime!! You have choosen a really good group of Drs.!! Congrats and again, Welcome!!!
