Hi Eva, and all you other Iowans!

I'm Joy and just starting out on my journey too. I have my initial meeting/seminar with the surgeon a week from today in Iowa City. I have my psych eval scheduled for 2/19/09 and have already seen my PCP to start the supervised diet record if that ends up being needed for insurance approval.

Some of this stuff I'm doing on my own, already knowing that it's a requirement for my insurance to approve. I'm trying to stay ahead of the game and shorten the approval time if I can. I've got a new grandbaby on the way, due mid-August. I'd like to have this done and over with before then.

Insurance approval received at the beginning of August.
Diagnosed Grave's Disease hyperthyroidism at beginning of August.
GD hyperthyroidism within normal ranges at end of September.
Surgery date 11/3/09

Welcome Joy it's very nice to meet you. I go for my phsyc eval on MOnday. I figured that my surgeon wouldn't submit paperwork to insurance until they had the mental health work, but a friend thought that it had been submitted to insurance already. I'm kind of excited and nervous at that news, I'm afraid insurance will turn it down. BUt, if they do I'll just try it again, appeal. I'm watching my diet, portion control, and working out at the gym and I'll keep that up even if turned down and keep trying to lose it on my own.

anyhow, keep in touch I'd love to have a buddy who is going through the steps at the same time.
