Hi I am Jozie
I am amazed by your website and those that participate. I guess that it is time for me to post after lurking for so long. I am a little different in that I am not excited about my surgery, but I know this is what I need to do. Your posts help to "pump me up" for the whole lifestyle change. And I love your success stories here. They inspire me. I read the "not so successful" stories with great interest as well.
Who I am:
Female executive
Thin all my life (I didn't realize it at the time), social butterfly, until I had a baby 14 years ago.
Shifted gears to the slow lane and ate my way through isolation as I worked my career and raised my boy. Ski trips, gym visits, and all other physical activity stopped.
Great mom. Good boss. Take care of everyone else, forgot to take care of myself (I see that in all of you) and gained weight.....lots.
Now 100lbs more than I ever thought I could be.
Name the diet, I have done it.
South Beach will some day name a wing after me for the number of times I have been down that path.
Anyways, here I am.
With all of you.
And it feels like this is a good time to introduce myself.
I have selected the gastric bypass. I don't have a date...but have jumped through all of the hoops.
Any time now.
You have a wonderful forum with lots of great peeps. I feel like I know you already. Now you know me.
Hope that you will let me join in.
You have already provided me with more information, guidance, and support than you know.
Jozie

Hi Jozie, welcome to TT.
Many will agree with you, this site is informative, supportive and hopefully you'll make lots of new friends.
When I joined I was really just looking for information and like you I was not excited just scared. Joining, I got more than I bargined for. Apart from the obvious, I found such kind, considerate and supportive people. My journey so far has been a bit of a roller coaster, but for TT, I know I would have given up by now.
Good Luck on your journey and keep us updated.

Welcome to T-T Jozie.
I joined this forum directly I got home after seeing a surgeon. My appointment was to talk with him about an umbilical hernia that was causing me problems. He was the one who suggested that I should look at WLS because although he could slap a patch on the hernia, unless I lost weight and kept it off, he'd be seeing me again for sure.
I came here knowing zero about WLS but this forum helped me through the whole process.

Welcome, Jozie. Your story sounds very similar to mine. I was a slender active professional until I started having kids and stayed at home. I ballooned. I ended up having a procedure called the vsg-vertical sleeve gastrectomy or sleeve gastrectomy. You should research it as well as other options. Whichever procedure you chooe, you will still have to do the work of making good choices and being more active, but you will have a tool to make doing so a little easier. There's lots of good info in this forum. Look around, and we're glad you're here!
