Has anyone heard of Dr. Victor Gonzales in Dallas? His office is out to Medical City Hospital off of Forest Ln.

I have Aetna insurance. I had to do a 3 month supervised diet along with the pysch eval, cardiologist clearance. After the 3 months I was approved in less than a month. My surgeon is Wade Barker. Love him and his staff.

Welcome to TT, diva. It seems as though your fellow Texans here have you covered so I won't say much other than I'm pretty sure I have seen Dr. Gonzales' name here before. Try doing a search and see if you come across others on TT who have used him. Welcome aboard and good luck to you~

Default welcome

Welcome to the site. I just joined in Oct 09, so I am still new to this also. I can not help you with Aetna, but I have Humana/Medicare plan and I had my fist surgeon consult on 9/29 and got all requirements done and insurance approved by 11/2/09. They did not require the 6 month nutritional vists. I would suggest calling Aetna and asking for bariatric department. They will b e able to provide you with a list of in network hospitals and surgeons and also requirements for approval. I had to wait a week for a call back from my bariatric dept. to call me back because they were so backlogged, but it was worth the wait. I am from Texas also. I live by College Station, but I am having to travel to Houston for surgery. Good luck! I go 11/11 to doctor to get surgery date. This forum is great. I have gotten lots of information and advise just from reading others threads. Hang in there. I am having a gastric bypass. I am very excited and nervous all at the same time! There are so many inspiring people on this support system. I am so greatful that I found it because there are no support groups in my area that I have found. hanks to everyone for their support and advise.

Talking Update

So I went and saw my surgeon yesterday 11/11. Today I got word that I have to be on a 3-month supervised diet, per insurance. So my first appt for Psy- Eval and first Nutritional Diet plan is scheduled for 11/21.

I'm so excited. From the looks of things, I'll be finished everything by Mid January. I really want to have my surgery in Feburary. Hope it works out that way!

Thanks to everyone for your help and support. I must say that I'm addicted to this website!

Sounds like you are on the right track for a Feb surgery date! I'm glad to hear your appointment went well. Were you happy with your surgeon? I know you were trying to find one on your plan when you first started the thread.

I hope your 3 months goes by fast for you!

Yes, he seems pretty nice. Of course he looks weird, but to me alot of doctors look wierd. The office was pretty nice and they seem to work fast. Like I said I went yesterday and I was called today for my evaluations. So I'm satisfied so far. Thanks for responding. I'm so excited. Its good to have ya'll to share it with.
