Default Hi, Are there any out there over 70 years old?

I'm looking for anyone who has had the surgery over the age of 65 years. I have completed all of my pre op but I'm still having misgivings. I need to use 80 #'s in order to have a knee replacement and I'm a very slow looser. Fortunatley I don't have any serious health issues except for acid reflux. My cholesterol and blood pressure is controlled by medicines and my primary care doctor feels i'm a good candidate even at my age of 71. When i look at the posts it seems i'm the only one that is part of the over the hill gang. Need help.

The first one who comes to mine is our Claire-in-Texas.

She is now a spritely and gorgeous 69 years young. She had her surgery in April 2007.

Just search her ID for her posts - she's a truly inspirational person and much loved around here.

Default Thanks for responding.

I needed to talk to someone close to my age that's had the surgery. I'm 71, 233 lbs. and 5'2". I'm very fortunate that i don't have the typical health problems that so many have. My heart and lungs are in good shape and I don't have diabetes but I feel like I'm a walking time bomb. I have researched and been to seminars 3 times in the last 3 years but this is the 1st time I have

completed all of the tests and the requdired meetings.

I have an appointment with the Dr.a next month to set a surgery date. The Dr. is new to the practice and when he first saw me he told me I was too old, but I was referred by my Primary care physician and I felt she wouldn't have referred me if she thought it wouldn't be suitable.

Right now I'm wavering, wondering if I can deal with the physical changes and off course wondering about side effects.

Any information you can share, I would really appreciate.

Welcome to TT. I expect you will learn here that there will be a great many positive changes for you going through weight loss at this point in your life. Going through weight loss SURGERY, however, can bring complications, some devastating and some just inconvenient. Take the time to learn about the different procedures which are available, as there are more than just the most well known, and which may make the most sense for you. Good luck and welcome aboard!
