Talking New to the WLS World...

Hello I am introducing myself after lurking for a little while. I just recently decided on the surgery after reading about the vertical sleeve. My Aunt had the lab band which worked for her at first – but then she stopped working with it...so kind of have bad feelings...even though I am sure it was more cause she stopped trying.

I am a little scared of the bypass and then when I found the sleeve – I thought – Yea! So, I am new to this process and have my seminar on Nov 5 and first consult with Surgeon on Nov 20. I have to quit smoking – which I did on Nov 1. I have BCBS, and it looks like I will be covered, no problem. However, my ins through work goes from 100% coverage to 90/10 with a deductible for next year which is when I am sure my surgery will be. However, it could not be covered at all – so I am thankful – just kind of wish I would have checked this out sooner.

I have a million stresses in my life, including being overweight, but feel if I don’t get healthy I won’t be able to handle anything or be here to handle it for that matter.

I love reading everyone’s stories – the good and the bad...I hope I can be a contributing member – I am looking forward to the journey.

Cyndi

PS – How do I do the cool signature?

Hi Cindi - Welcome.

I'm originally from Michigan. Where in MI are you?

Here's the instructions I found to jazz up your signature:

To create a ticker:
1. Go to Weight Loss - Diet Ticker
2. Select your ticker ruler and then click next
3. Select your slider and then click next
4. Select a PIN code to save your ticker and information
5. Fill out what information you want tracked and then select next
6. Your ticker will appear. Right click on the ticker and save the file. Default is weight.png
7. Under My account, select Edit Signature
8. At the bottom, under Upload Signature Picture, option 2, click on browse and find the ticker file that you saved, and select open.
9. Once the file appears in the option 2 box, click on upload. The ticker should appear.
10. Then go up on the page and to the right, click on Insert Signature picture.
11. If you go to the signature box at the top, you should see SIGPIC /SIGPIC in brackets.
12. Go to the bottom and click on Save Signature. Your ticker should now be visible when you post.

To edit:
1. Go to Graphical Tickers and Trackers: Weight Loss, Trying To Conceive, Pregnancy... and enter your PIN.
2. Repeat step 5-7 from above.
3. In the signature box, delete SIGPIC /SIGPIC
4. Repeat steps 8-12 from above.

First - thanks for the welcome and the information on how to do the signature.

I went to the Educational Seminar last night and am even more pumped up about this. I confirmed that I have to have stopped smoking for 1 month before surgury. I am on day 6 now - and it has been a long week - but I am doing it!!!!!

Looking forward to the months ahead. They called my home yesterday to up the consultation - but I was at work and didn't get the call! So I am going to let them know today to call my work number!

Cindy, just looking at your signature quote tells me you have what it takes.

Good luck to you. I'm not quite two weeks out and doing great, whichever route you choose!
