TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU, the Barium was horrendous and I had to do extra testing to be sure-GAG!
Hood Skim milk is 80 calories and I found a local Organic milk with the same, FYI!

Unhappy Not feeling to good

Well I just thought I was going to go protein shake shopping....I have felt like crap since Wednesday. I came home with my OnQ pain catheter Friday and took it out Monday. Everybody could not believe how good I was doing including my 2 family members that had gastric bypass. I knew I was feeling to good for a while, I guess everything was numb. Now it feels like everytime I move and turn, something is ripping and burning on my left side. Called my Doctor and this is normal being that they do most of the surgery on the left side. Don't get me wrong....I'm not sorry I had this done at all but this is a big shock being I felt so good at first. That OnQ pain system is the way to go!!! I'm sure without it, I would have lived on pain meds. Anybody else experience this? As far as protein goes, I have just been trying to get it from my liquids and such.

If you use skim milk you would be drinking even less calories....

When I talked to my dietician and she told me this I was so excited- I think that the protein drinks are even worse than the baruim ( well maybe not quite that bad)
I could definitely do milk. I just wish they would make one like the powder Slimfast Optifast. The milk chocolate flavor is AWESOME! It taste just like nesquick to me plus if I use my magic bullet blender and add ice, it taste just like a choc milkshake. I had to stay on that for a week before my surgery and it helped me lose 5 lbs. But after surgery I couldn't drink it because of the sugar.
Good luck to you and keep me posted on your progress.

Hi Suzi-Q!

I live right down the road from you in Bath, NY. Congrats on your surgery. I'm definitely going to check out the website you posted. My surgery date is December 7th, but I'm reading all I can ahead of time. Thanks for the great info.

Thanks Denmom for suggesting those websites. I really liked the eggface site. I am definitely going to try some of those recipes.

I really like Cytomax PROtein drinks - they come in Watermelon, Tangerine, and Tropical...they are already mixed and they kinda remind me of a jolly rancher because they are tart. I like that the liquid is totally clear and each bottle has 40 grams of protein!

A little pricey at 3.50 a bottle but I get them for 2.99 a bottle because i get the case price (and my store even gives me that price when I mix the flavors)

After surgery, I began to want different protein drinks so now I am working on a box of Nectar samples. It was 9.99 for 10 samples - call 1-866-333-403 and tell Customer Service that you want the samples for 9.99. They came really fast and it is a LOT cheaper and less hassle than buying the tubs (although my store lets me return things I don't like with a reciept and within 30 days of purchase)

Good luck

I just might try Cytomax! I cannot do the ones that are like a milkshake so I've switched to Syntrax Nectar. Cytomax sounds interesting though. Where do you buy it?

here's the description; Cytomax® Protein Ready-To-Drink CytoSport

I purchase mine at the Vitamin Store arent you in arlington texas?

Arlington
4701 S.Cooper St
Arlington, TX 76017
Phone: 817-472-5478
Store Hours: Monday-Saturday 9-9, Sunday 11-6

they are also available online at several sites; Cytosport Cytomax Protein RTD Watermelon (20 Oz X 12 Bottles)

these are very easy to tolerate and I find them better if i drink them VERY cold. It still takes most of the day to finish the bottle but it's 40 grams of protein so it is worth it. I have never tried their powdered mixes and I know what you mean about not liking the ones that are like milkshakes but I LOVE Nectar's Cappucinno flavor...I have even gone and purchased 20oz clear cups and lids so I can pretend I'm having something from the coffee shop - it's really satisfying

good luck and let's keep in touch...I think you had your surgery exactly one week after I had mine.

also, the Vitamin Shoppe I go to let's me return things with a reciept within 30 days of purchase so that helps.

also I see that your surgery was only 3 days after mine!!! that's great...how are you doing with the food progression? today I was really scared because a nice man at the farmer's market insisted that I try his beautiful pear...I had a few bites, it was delicious and it STAYED down!!! that is my first fruit so that is a victory...
