The upside with GNC is that provided you keep the receipt, they'll let you return stuff you don't like and exchange it for something else.

Just don't get tempted to buy big tubs of anything.

Phatlady is an unknown quantity at this point
Default protein

I, too had a horrible time with the protein shakes. Never, ever liked them and could never get them down. I even loathe Carnation Instant Breakfast and that is made for the masses to consume! Optifast was so much better-pre-op liquid diet -than it was twenty years ago when I was on it but I can't take it Post-op. I wound up using Isopure, the Icy Grape flavor, and cutting it with water and sugar free Cranberry juice. Isopure tends to make your mouth feel cottony afterwards so I would finish my drink and then go gargle before drinking more water.

He is in the same hospital as my Dr. (Dr. Kuhn). Mine was going to be at Baylor but they were booked so I had mine at Medical City there in Dallas. Apparently Dr. Kuhn has an office in both hospitals. They were nothing but nice and supportive. The only person I thought was very blah was the lady that did my check-in paperwork the week before. My nephew had his at Baylor and he thought they were awesome. So which ever place that you have yours done I know you will have a great team helping you through it. Good Luck and I will watch for your post.

Congrats Huzzmuffin! I'm originally from Ada and travel by there often when I go home to visit family.

TxHunni, GO SOONERS! I went to OU way back when and was in the drumline of the OU Band! Loooove that campus. If you have to stop for a fried pie, there's also one on exit 51 by Davis. I think they are owned by the same people. Terrific pies! I just don't eat them anymore.

I liked a protein shake I found at GNC preop. Once I was postop I couldn't take the milkshake taste anymore and have switched to Syntrax Nectar which has more fruit flavored juice types of protein. I found them at the Vitamin Shoppe. When you go to GNC, make sure you get whey protein isolate and not collagen protein. We need they whey protein isolate.

Have fun shopping!

I'm not sure if I'm the best one for advice lol...being that I'm still on the protein shakes and my surgery was sept 8th 2009 so I'm about what 9 weeks out but I live and I love my protein shakes which I'm not sure where you are but I think I read UK...but I drink the Designer Whey Protein (french vanilla) it has 100 calories protein 18grams sugar 2grams fat 2grams and carbs only 3 and you don't have to use a blender just 8 0z of skim or fat free milk and 1 scoop mix it in a cup and drink, it curbs my appettite, some people drink it with water who can't drink milk but I love that I can drink it with that milk...I practically live on it.....and I know that I will drink these for the rest of my life I love them so much!!!! Good Luck and remember that the more you exercise the faster it's going to come off...I only walk because I generally HATE to exercise lol...but walking I think is the best anyways......Best Regards: Elizabeth:o

I have been trying different protein powders and I can't stand any of them. I talked to my dietician and she said if I can tolerate milk, it is possible to get your protein in that way, 1 muscle milk light per day split evenly between 5 cups of milk- 2% milk would equal 700 calories and 57 grams of protein... If you use skim milk you would be drinking even less calories....

When I talked to my dietician and she told me this I was so excited- I think that the protein drinks are even worse than the baruim ( well maybe not quite that bad)
