Hi I am Christina I am a mother of a 4 year old boy and a wife to an Army soldier who is in Iraq for the 3rd time. I had GB on September 22nd of this year. As of today I am down 30 pounds. I am having a hard time getting all the protein in.

Getting the protein in is a common problem. But it's so important. I actually did a terrible job of getting my protein in for the first three months, and I had all kinds of problems because of it. Have you been able to find a protein shake that you like?

It will be a month on the 28 and the doctor hasn't mentioned protein. I go back to him next week and I'm going to bring the subject up

Hi Christina... welcome to Thinner Times.

Can you mix up your shake ingredients in a container ahead of time -- I'd say its about 3 eight ounce servings a day (but I may be wrong) which would also be included as your liquid 0-- and the nurse that all day long. Try 4 ounces of protein every hour. Or pour your protein into several 12 ounce bottles and nurse that while you're on the go.

Add to your intake some cottage cheese and yogurt (especially the Greek yogurt which is more expensive, but higher in protein) and you can be all set.

Add to that a few spoonfuls of chili, tuna salad, chicken salad (all mushed up or stick blended if you're still in the mushy state). You don't need to eat that much to get an extra 12 grams of protein in that way.

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!
