Hi, no_more_big_order -- ya need a name -- welcome to TT!
Congratulations on a quick journey... wow, I'm sure many of us wish we were on the fast track.
Your most dire question was about protein. The 1st few weeks post surgery you'll be getting your protein from shakes and a tiny bit from food. Try the recipes section of TT for some shake recipes. If you can access a lunch box (to have shakes ready made), that's a plus. Else, you can carry the powder with you and make shakes on the fly with water.
Trouble is, at least it was for me, just plain water and shake powder was the pits. I needed some shake recipes and I found one I really liked (making my shake from vanilla protein powder and extra strong Crystal Lite Orange). Other than that, No Sugar Added Chocolate Flavor Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with Non-Fat Milk, was my fall-back.
What you need to remember is that every day will be getting better. Every day you'll find a semblance of the normal you desire. As each stage of food passes, you'll be able to eat more, tolerate more and enjoy more. There's a TRUE normal post-op and it changes month-to month until you find THAT time where you feel like everyone else who hasn't had surgery. You're just going to be the one who's making the wiser choices regarding your nutrition AND occasionally feel sick while you watch other people stuffing their face with food -- "Did I eat like that?"
Good Luck. I wish you every success.
