Default Surgery Done 10/7

Hi Everyone: Well, all went well. A few discomforts, but overall good so far.
1. Too much anesthesia - didn't leave my system for 4 days.
2. Demerol gave me a headache - changed pain meds 3x
3. Every blood pressure machine had a different reading, they kept me 2 extra days due to BP numbers, I took advantage of it!
4. Lost 7 lbs. since surgery
5. Bowel movements are rare
6. Eating strained soup, protein, water, liquid yoplait.
7. a little trouble sleeping, but no real pain at all
8. Post op appt today, coming along fine, keep up Lovonox shots, stay on crushed BP meds for a while longer, drink SMART WATER to increase potassium level, no calcium yet, pureed foods next week.

Had a problem today: I was so happy to be off ISOPURE that I got a pure protein can shake from TJOES 35gm. Starting sipping about 7:30 AM and was almost done with it by 8:45 driving down the FWY to my Dr. Appt. By the time the MD came in the room, I was camped to HELL!!! I thought I was delivering a baby!! I bet I won't do that anymore.

Welcome, Winsome, and thanks for sharing your experience so far. It's great to hear you are doing so well, except for the little Trader Joe's shake incident!

Welcome to Thinner Times, Winsome... congratulations on being post-op. Yes, there may be a few bumps, as there are with all surgeries, I wish for you that the bumps are minor and recovery is swift.

about blood pressure: some of the nurses took the BP on my forearm - it was always higher than on my upper arm. In my hospital room post-op, the BP machine had a "large man" cuff on it, and all was good. but in pre-op and at the docs office, the nurses would rather take on the forearm than to have to take the time to switch out to the larger sized cuff.
I decided to be "one of THOSE patients' and insisted that the cuff be switched out to the larger one for any BP testing. Ultimately it is MY health and MY money that is paying for this (well, not counting the health insurance input), and I want things to be accurate.
and BTW, my wife and I made our first trip to Trader Joe's yesterday - what a store! We walked in looking for Spicy Seafood in Mushroom and walked out with $150 worth of food. enought to fill 2 reusable TJ bags and one insulated TJ cooler bag!

Hi there - First of all I think you have to change your T.T. name to Losesome! lol because that's what you are going to do!
Boy, you sure had a great experience with the Protein can shake - I've had lactose intollerance for years and know exactly what you mean about the cramping that feels like labour pains (only you don't get a sweet little baby after all the pain). Its funny how we seem to learn the hard way! Its all a learning process. Good luck and keep on posting so we can see your progress!
