Default New to this. Need all the info I can get. Good or Bad.

Hi everyone. My name is Michelle and I am 33 y/o. I scheduled to have the Lap-Band surgery done on 11/12/09 in Mexico at INT. I have always been heavy but at the age of 26 after having my third daughter I found myself at 271 pounds. I joined Curves and in a year in half had lost 100 lbs. I have started to put that weight back on and am so terrified to put the weight back on that I have decided to forward with this procedure. Has anyone had their surgery done down in Mexico. Can anyone give me some good advice, as to what to expect. Anything at this point is helpful.
Thank you.

Hi, Michelle! Welcome to TT. You have come to the right place for info.

I'm gonna give you some links to check out when you have time. These threads are in our gastric bypass section, and I know you're having lap band, but I think a lot of the stuff will still apply.

The things people wish they had known beforehand

Hi Michelle, so how much do you weigh now? You didn't mention that. I had a lapband but had to have it removed because part of it stuck to my stomach tissue. They removed it all except that part that was stuck, cause it was too dangerous to cut it away. I hope you have more success with it! Welcome to TT!!

I know that you were once 271, but you're now having surgery to lose 58 pounds AND to control your weight so you don't gain?

If those numbers are right, my dear, why?

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!
