Default I'm New To

Hi All
This is a first time for me doing this so this will be my test. I had my GBS on September 28 of 2003. Yes my big anniversary is coming up, 6 years wow has time gone by, but I have to admit I am a little sad. My 1st 4 years were totally awsome.

I weight in at 356 on the date of surgery, I lost 169 lbs and stayed there for a long time. Up and down a little but not to much that I could not handle.
Then in 2007 things started to change, as I would eat I would get full rather fast but within an hour or so I would feel hungry again.

So, what did I start to do was much on anyting and everything. Oh I still get the sick feeling but not like it once was. I exercise at least 3 to4 times a week at Life Time fitness and I really enjoy it, but it is not enough anymore.

Do any of you feel this way. Eat and never feel full.

Please let me know your thoughs as I do not ever want to be where I was but if I don't stop doing the wrong things I know I am doing now I am afraid I will be there shortly.

Hey Annette.. welcome to TT. So glad to have another long termer with us

I'm 20 months out and I am one of those that never really feels full and the sensation of tummy grumbling, gnawing hunger is always always with me so I struggle constantly with this. Unfortunately, those of us that have this will have to use good old fashioned willpower to keep those pounds from ever-so-slowly creeping back up on us.

For me, I'm still struggling with the fact that I cannot get past a certain weight (for me, I cannot get below 181- no matter WHAT I do- and it drives me CRAZY).. but it's a daily, sometimes even hourly struggle.

I wish I had some words of wisdom for you, but if you ever find something that works- let me know

Meantime.. I hope you stick around, we need more long term post-ops to help us newer post ops out

Hi Annette,

As a pre-op I've been learning a lot about the importance of not drinking with your meals and for certain times before & after your meals. I mention this because my dad is 8 years post-op duodenal switch and this isn't something he knew to practice. There's a "sticky" in one of the sections that links to some great threads and there was one i read about "pouch rules" that you might find helpful.

I've also seen some people mention the 5-day pouch test. I'm sure someone will chime in on that and you may find it helpful.

Congrats on your big weight loss and I hope you can get back on track with your current program!

Nice to meet you. You have given me words of wisdom by just replying to me. I have never done this type of messaging before so receiving messages and responding to them is very exciting and may just put me on a new track for encouragment.

I live in Romeoville Illinois about 25 miles outside of Chicago. Oh I bet you are just wondering am I looking forward to the Olympics. In all honestly I am not sure yet.

I am going to look through some more of the past posted messages and see what other success stories are out there.

Talk to you later

Does water loading work for you?

You start sipping about 30 min after a meal and really just drink and drink and drink until you feel like you're gonna flat away, then right before you eat you gulp about 10 ozs as fast as you can. Cause the water has no where to go since your intestines are full of it, it tightens the stoma so your food stays in there longer. A lot of surgeons swear by it with longterm maintenance.
