Hi,

My name is Richard i'm English and and I live and work in Zurich in Switzerland. having battled with my weight for ever finally decided to do something about it as my son who was living with his mother in England kicked him out to live with me (he was 14 at the time).

So went to see the doctor in May 2008, had to wait 6 weeks to see a consultant, and the another 5 months to see the specialist, who then sent me to 4 other specialists. All with a 4-6 week wait time.

So after all the tests they identified I had malignant metabolic syndrome. So that combined with a BMI of 43 and all the co-morbidities means my Swiss health insurance ok'd the RNY bypass. So now waiting for a Angiagram at the beinginning of october and if thats ok the procedure will be 8-12 weeks later.

The long wait times are caused by the fact the the University Hospital in Zurich is the European centre of excellence for weight loss surgury which is good as it means the top guy in europr is going to do the op. The down side is that everything just takes ages.

So anybody out there in Switzerland?

Hi.. not from Switzerland, but have visited the country and absolutely loved it! We were then in June (1997 or 98?), and it was just lovely.
