Hi Mshell! Welcome to TT! Good luck on your journey

I would highly suggest you send away for some samples to try before buying a ton of protein.. Vitalady.com - Protein Supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks! sells samples of some of the popular syntrax protein drinks.

Just know that your tastes frequently change after your surgery for some reason, so don't stock up too much beforehand.

If you want to add protein to a hot drink or food, you can try Any Whey from optimum nutrition.. (I buy it at amazon.. cheaper that way) As far as I know, it is the only one that is heat stable, though there may be others out there.. most are not for use at temps higher than 120/130 or so..

In addition to vitalady, you can get samples of Unjury at UNJURY Medical Quality Whey Protein Isolate. Great Tasting Whey Protein Supplements for Everyday Health! High Protein and High Quality. and samples of Chike at Chike Nutrition - Best Tasting Meal Replacement Shake. Guaranteed. Pour, Shake, Drink & Go!. It's normal to have to try a bunch of different brands before you find one you like. Just be aware that your tastes may change after surgery, so what you like pre-op you might not like afterward. So don't stock up until after.

Also, visit theworldaccordingtoeggface and check out some of her protein shake recipes. I mostly have to add stuff to mine to make them good. I don't really like just the powder and milk or water. Although, if you put it in the blender with a few ice cubes, it makes it more like a milk shake and it tastes better, I think.

Thank you Mistymee and Poet Kelly!

Any and all advice is appreciated! I have my one week pre surgical visit today at 1:00pm and am very anxious to go. Who would have ever thought that I would be excited to go get weighed at a doctor's office????? With the liquid diet for 5 days now, I'm sure I've lost some weight.

Thanks again ladies!!!!

Hello, my name is Hortensia. I am starting my journey into WLS. I have been doing alot of research and found this Website. I am trying to read and research as much as possible to have a good knowledge of the journey I will be encountering. I will be having my first appointment on Sept 24th. I am excited and scared. It is nice to read the support that is given here.

I stocked up on samples out my wazoo but, did not try any until after surgery because of the change in taste thing. After going through all of them I decided I liked the Optimum Nutrition (the ONLY heat stable one) and Isopure.

Welcome aboard and good luck
