Default Hi From Central Cali

I've been reading this forum for a few months now and figured it was time to join

I had Lap RNY on the 28th of August and so far so good. I must say that it's all about learning how to eat all over again for me. My mind says 'go ahead and eat it', but my new stomach says 'I don't think so'. I'm on the sliced meats, soft foods part of the diet now and it's amazing how little it takes to fill me up.

One thing I have noticed is that every doctor has a different schedule for what should be eaten post-op. Mine was clear liquids week 1, then puree soft week 2, and now sliced deli meats, beans, etc.. week 3. Next week I can add whole grain bread and then the week after that I will be back to just about regular foods.

I look forwarding to sharing and learning from those who have gone before me.

Montano- Welcome to TT! There is a lot of great people and info on here.

Dr.'s are all different.. i think that is one of the annoying things. Each dr has their own guidlines and rules. I had my RNY 6/2 and had to eat pureed foods for 2 weeks post -op and cant even touch any whole grain till 6 months post-op. You will find on here most post-op food plans differ on here.

Are you in northern or southern central cal?

Thanks for all the welcomes

I'm in central Central Cali Fresno to be exact.

Dr. Boone has been great. I was kind of surprised to see someone else for my 1 week post-op appt. But I guess his part is done and now his staff will help the rest of the way.

Yea I didn't like that about my last visit either. I am going in on the 21 of this month and I am going to request Dr. Boone this time.

hey hey! I'm a newbie too but i'm in Nor Cal.. Vallejo to be specific. So you had the RNY done? that's what i'm getting too.. I have some questions.. if you don't mind I ask.. I'm thinking my experience might be similiar since we're both going thru Kaiser. And from my understanding ALL KAISER PERMANENTES do the RNY or Lap Band all the same way... anyways.. how long did you stay in the hospital after the surgery? How long did it take?
any tips for me to prepare myself before hand? I'm now on the 1200 calorie diet. I started at 207. and I just weighed myself this morning and i'm now at 198!!! (wooo hooo!! sooo excited 8 more lbs to go to hit Surgery weight goal).

Well welcome! and looking forward to reading your journey!

I will let you know. I have to admit when I went in june and waited to see him and some lady I have never seen before walked in I wasn't to thrilled. Then she looked at my chart and saw that I was down 200 pounds and said "well your doing ok" I was hoping for something more I guess. I thought 200 in six months was pretty good. Now don't get me wrong prior to that app. I have had nothing but great things to say about Dr. Boone and his staff.
