Default Hi and Help !!!! lol

Hi all, this is my first time here, so ill introduce myself. I am lisa and am now n10 weeks post op gastric band. It has all gone well with a few hiccups here and there but feeling great. Have got just a few quieres i am hoping someone can help with.
I am now at half fill and have had it filled almost two weeks now. Before my other fills i ate as normal had restriction but nothing like now. Does your quantity of eating radically change. At the moment i can stomach maybe 8 tablesppons of soup but 2 bites of solids, and any more up it all comes. Is it normal or i am just looking at too much food.
Oh and really pleased have lost a total of 19 kilos yipee. xx

I'd think a good fill is where you can eat about 1/2 - 1 cup of food at a time. Anything less or more than that and you need an adjustment. About how many calories a day do you think you're getting in?

I think you should journal on thedailyplate.com for a couple days and if you're getting at least 800-1200 then you're fine. If you're not, you should be adjusted.

A fill that's too tight for too long can cause erosion, so you wanna be careful with that.

Welcome to Thinner Times, Lili.

At 10 weeks post-op, being banded, you should be able to eat at least 4 oz of food, that's 1/2 cup, during one sitting. Perhaps approx 3 oz if it's textured. Be aware of how quickly you are eating, too, as maybe you have to slow down and chew your solids better.

I'd say that the amount of food, for soup, your intake is slightly low, but just slightly. IMO, if you're not feeling hungry, than the fill is spot-on. However, if it feels uncomfortable and does not let up for a few weeks, you may want to have a tad fill removed.

The calorie count is important so that you don't over estimate your calorie intake AS well as so you don't go below 700 / day, which is unhealthy. The target of 800 to 1200 is perfect with the 1200 coming after 10 months or more post-op.

Document everything, all your intake, the numbers and your hardships and everytime the food comes up. The doctor does not want your throat harmed, so if this happens too often, than some fill removal is probably necessary.

Finally -- you're doing great!!!! Congratulations on joining the band.

I was banded too and it sounds to me like maybe you are over-filled. Sometimes that happens and you need to go back and have an adjustment. Have you asked your doctor? You should be able to eat more than 8 tbls of soup because it slides right down.

With each fill you do obviously get more restriction but it doesn't hurt to speak to your doctor about it. Good luck.
