Default Hello Hello from Metro Detroit Area

I went to a seminar last night - and I am BLOWN away by the Sleeve! I initially started my research thinking I would hopefully get banded ...then I saw the sleeve mentioned..and it really perked my interest. Well after the seminar last night - the sleeve would be the only way to go for me.

I have my pysch evaluation tomorrow afternoon. Then I have my surgeon consult on 9/26. I am hoping and praying that somehow I will not have to go through a 6 month program for weight loss (Blue Care Network - BMI 41 with no co-morbidites that I know of) but if I do I am willing and able if it will get me this WONDERFUL tool to help me lose and KEEP it off once and for all. I have battled with my weight all of my life.

OH how I wish I had kept all of my receipts from all the Weight Watchers joins - rejoins, etc....and the Weight Loss Clinic.....sigh. I KNOW HOW to lose weight..I just don't know how to keep it off. And it is a lifestyle change, I do know this, and the sleeve is the tool to help keep that lifestyle afloat!

Hey Suzy! Welcome to TT!! Although the sleeve isn't supremely common like RNY there are people here that have had it done and I'm sure would be more than happy to answer your questions!! Good Luck!

Welcome to TT, Suzy.

The more I learn about the sleeve and it's successes, the more impressed I am. I am not a band fan - although I wish success to anyone who pursues it. It's too hard to deal with frustration with WLS not being a success... I mean, to go through it all, being banded, and not achieve what you'd like has been echoed by many band to RNY'ers around here.

One note: before you get your hopes up too high, make sure your insurance covers the sleeve, because not all do yet.

Other than that, CONGRATULATIONS on beginning your journey. I wish for you that it is everything you want it to be and more.

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!
